B&M Announces Rapid Expansion With 51 New Stores
Bargain hunters, brace yourselves! B&M, a beacon of budget-friendly shopping, has just dropped some exciting news. They're on a store-opening spree, planning to unveil 45 new locations across the UK this financial year. And guess what, They're not stopping there. A similar expansion is on the cards for next year too.
This move is a big deal for savvy shoppers and local economies alike. The first store will open its doors in Porthmadog, Wales, on January 18, creating 35 jobs. This expansion isn't just about more stores; it's a commitment to community growth and providing value in these tough economic times.
Ruby Flanagan at [News Source] reported that B&M's recent financial update is all about growth and resilience. With over 700 stores in the UK, they're showing no signs of slowing down. The Porthmadog store, occupying the former 16,033 sqft Wilko store, marks just the beginning of a series of openings.
The parent company, B&M European Value Retail Group, also overseeing Heron Foods, has reported a revenue increase of 5% to £1.65 billion. In the retail world, where every penny counts, this is a testament to their strategy of everyday low prices and efficient operations.
The CEO, Alex Russo, emphasizes their focus on affordability and quality, a crucial strategy especially as many grapple with the cost-of-living crisis. B&M is poised to hit its earnings target of £620-630 million, a clear indicator of their strong market position.
Remember last year when B&M announced 30 new stores? Well, they've upped the game this year. They're also converting 51 former Wilko sites, a move that expands their reach and variety.

I quite like B&M but most admit prefer Home Bargains, Poundland and Poundstretcher. Nice to see some retail success though and more shops.
I love B&M ! We have at least 2 stores in town and I am in at least one of them several times a week.
I've only ever been to a B&M once, so I'll be down to our new one shortly after it opens to check it out; hopefully they've re-employed the ex-Wilko staff and I'll see some familiar faces.
