Tom Church, deal expert, has revealed the best supermarket bargains for New Year’s Eve on his YouTube channel, Latest Deals.

The days in between Christmas and New Year’s Eve fly by, especially if you’ve got kids to entertain while they’re off school. However, it’s not long until the big day arrives, so if you’re looking for some last-minute food and drink bargains for New Year’s Eve, Tom Church has done the hard work for you by scouring the shelves at Iceland, ASDA, Tesco, Aldi and Lidl.

Bargain Booze - Cheap Champagne, Prosecco, Wine, Beers and Spirits

A key part of any New Year’s Eve celebration is getting the alcohol in, and fortunately there are plenty of options if you know where to look - especially for beer and wine. ASDA is offering a 2 for £9 mix and match deal on their range of beers, lagers, ales and ciders. Options include Koppaberg, Brewdog, Heineken, Asahi and Carlsberg. If you want more of one brand, Tesco has another bulk buy deal where Clubcard holders can get £3 off a 20 pack of Stella Artois, paying just £9.

If you prefer a glass of wine, why not go for Iceland’s 2 for £10 deal? Options include Burfield Pinot Noir, Mount Rozier Shiraz, Burfield Chardonnay and The Weather Dial Sauvignon Blanc. Elsewhere, Aldi has gone all out on the wine discounts this year. Choices include Ribera Del Duero priced at £7.79, was £9.49, Amarone for £9.99 instead of £12.99, Prosecco Spumante DOC for £5.99 reduced from £4.95 and Chateauneuf - du - Pape reduced from £14.99 to £9.99.

Looking for a cheap and easy feast? Tom reveals how this year Iceland has the best pizza deals, providing shoppers with a 3 for £5 deal, where you can choose from various Goodfellas and Dr Oetker Ristorante options - such as stonebaked thin cheese & ham, pepperoni pizza pockets and deep pan cheesy pizza.

Similarly, Tesco is doing a half price pizza offer on their Pizza Express selection, where you pay £2.50 instead of £5. Choose from restaurant favourites such as the Sloppy Giuseppe, Margherita and Pollo Ad Astra. Pair with their dough balls to recreate the restaurant experience on a budget.

Tesco is doing a great deal for those who love deli snacks. If you want to add some delicious savoury treats to your party table this year, you can get a huge range of snacks with their 2 for £4 offer. Options include mixed olives with cheddar, a German style meat & cheese selection, a continental meat platter and a Mediterranean platter including roasted red pepper, slow roasted tomatoes and salted broad beans.

Aldi is also a good choice for deli options - for example, they do jars of sundried tomatoes and chargrilled peppers for just 99p. Smoked and unsmoked pancetta is available for £1.29, and plenty of dips - such as guacamole, salsa and garlic aioli dip - are just 79p.

Tom says, “Everyone should be responsible this New Year’s Eve and keep gatherings to a minimum. But whether alone or just with family, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some good party food.”

Iceland is offering a huge selection with a 3 for £5 deal. Options include mini hot dog rolls, duck spring rolls, mozzarella sticks, chicken tikka bites, mini deep dish cheese pizzas and tempura king prawns. These are great for shoving in the oven and setting out on the table for friends and family to nibble at ahead of the New Year countdown.

If you’re vegan, Lidl has plenty of options available for you. Choose from vegan fish fingers for £1.69, broccoli nuggets for £1.99, mini Schnitzels for £1.99 and crunchy triangles with cauliflower cheese for £1.79. A vegan selection is also available in Aldi - create a plant-based party menu for New Year with options such as onion and rosemary sausages, no meat meatballs, lentil bites and hummus bites - all for 99p each.

Iceland is a top choice for party snacks if you’re looking for cheap options to entertain friends and family this New Year’s Eve. Deals in-store include 50p gingerbread Digestive biscuits, £1 Matchmaker Minis, £1 Blue Riband bars and more. Plus there are sections of £1 cakes and sweet bags, so you’re spoilt for choice.

If you’re in Tesco instead, there are some good options in their Bulk Buy section, such as a 10 pack of Kinder Bueno for £3.75. Alternatively, Lidl is doing plenty of snacks for 99p such as Party Ring biscuits, Smarties and M&Ms.

Tom adds, “I’d also just say a visit to Home Bargains may be worth it. I went there earlier in the week and they have lots of Star Buys on sweets.”

Plenty of people will be preparing for a quiet night in this year, wanting to avoid large crowds and instead keeping it simple at home. For those preparing a special meal so they can countdown to the New Year in style, there are some good deals in supermarkets to browse.

If you’re looking to create a gourmet meal, Iceland is doing a 3 for £10 deal on its fish selection. This includes calamari, their seafood mix, a fish pie mix and haddock fillets. These are perfect for pairing with potatoes and a dry white wine - you could pick up a few bottles in-store by making the most of their 2 for £10 deal.
