Residents of East Riding can apply for £200 cash support to help with cost of living expenses until August 31. Successful applicants will receive the funds within 20 days of applying and providing the necessary evidence.
To qualify, working households must be East Riding residents, not receive any benefits, have an income below £28,000 for single households or £33,000 for other households, and have less than £6,000 in savings. Unpaid carers must also be East Riding residents, not receive carer's allowance, care for someone receiving disability payment, and meet the same income and savings criteria.
In addition to this support, various free cash schemes are available across the UK. For example, new or expectant parents can get up to £442 a year through the Healthy Start scheme, and some can receive £500 via the Sure Start Maternity Grant. Councils offer welfare assistance schemes for essentials, potentially worth up to £1,000. Discretionary Housing Payment can help those struggling with housing costs, and many energy companies provide grants for customers in need, sometimes up to £2,000.
