  • New full-line stores and additional Foodhalls planned
  • First opening at Galleries Shopping Centre, Washington next Thursday

Marks & Spencer has released the list of locations where it will be opening a series of "new and improved" stores this year. Starting as early as next week, the retailer will unveil nine brand-new food locations across Britain.

The first opening will be a full-line store at Galleries Shopping Centre in Washington, near Sunderland, next Thursday at 9am. This new store promises to be "bigger, better, fresher" and is set to replace the current Simply Food store, which will close on May 29.

According to Tom Hussey at The Sun, the full list of upcoming openings includes a Foodhall at Guildford’s Ladymead Retail Park in Surrey, scheduled for June 30, and another at Gallagher Retail Park in Dundee, set for this summer. Additionally, a new Foodhall will open in Largs, Ayrshire, in 2025.

M&S has indicated that more locations are on the horizon, with future plans for four new full-line stores and nine additional Foodhalls. Updates will be provided as further details become available.

Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, commented, "Marks & Spencer's expansion is great news for shoppers across the UK. These new and improved stores will not only offer enhanced shopping experiences but also bring convenience to more local areas."

It's good to see M&S expanding their supermarkets but you wonder with people's incomes being squeezed how they are achieving this. They do, do some lovely food though and some of it is reasonably priced but its not really competitive with other supermarkets generally perhaps with the exception of Waitrose who can seem more expensive for some items.

I'm not able to get to the high street Marks & Spencers much these days and Ocado who sell some of their food items have proved incapable of delivering. I used to pop in there after a day teaching arts and crafts (voluntary work) to pick up their yellow label items which saved me quite a lot. Happy days and great memories.
