M&S Says Goodbye Naughty Valentine's Dish After 5 Years
- M&S discontinues the "Love Sausage," a Valentine's Day favorite.
- The unique 450g breakfast treat was a blend of heart-shaped pork sausages wrapped in bacon.
- Marks and Spencer introduces over 25 new Valentine’s Day products, including a luxurious Dine In option.
After a five-year love affair with shoppers, Marks and Spencer has decided to part ways with its cheekily named "Love Sausage," leaving many looking forward to their Valentine's Day plans in dismay. The 450g treat, known for its heart-shaped pork sausages enveloped in bacon, will not grace the shelves this February, marking the end of an era for a product that had become synonymous with romantic Valentine's mornings.
Lyndsey Young at The Sun reports on this unexpected breakup. Launched in 2019, the Love Sausage had garnered a loyal following, with last year's customers praising it as “really tasty” and “a winner.” However, the Sun revealed that the absence of the Love Sausage from social media buzz led to its inquiry into the product's fate, prompting an M&S spokesperson to explain that their Valentine's Day range is refreshed annually to introduce innovative new offerings to customers, which sometimes means older lines are discontinued.
In lieu of the Love Sausage, Marks and Spencer has launched an array of over 25 new Valentine's Day products, aiming to captivate the hearts and taste buds of its customers anew. This year's lineup includes the most luxurious Dine In option to date, featuring Lobster for the first time, showcasing M&S's commitment to keeping its festive offerings fresh and exciting.
The void left by the Love Sausage may disappoint some, but the supermarket landscape offers a plethora of Valentine's Day dining options. From Asda's three-course dine-in deal for £12 to Co-op's three-course dine for £10 for members, there are ample opportunities for couples to enjoy a romantic meal without stretching their budgets. While the Love Sausage might be missing, the spirit of Valentine's Day remains alive with diverse and affordable options across various supermarkets.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, commented, "While the Love Sausage will be missed by many, M&S's decision to innovate and refresh their Valentine's Day range demonstrates their dedication to offering customers new and exciting products. It's always a bit sad to see a favorite go, but it also opens the door to discovering new favorites among the plethora of options available for a romantic celebration."
Looking at the Sausage wrapped in bacon, very much the same as I have with my christmas Dinner, only huge compared to them little ones at christmas. I would rather stick with the pigs in blankets for christmas. Valentine is for a Romantic Dinner, not a christmas dinner.
