Mum creates amazing pink and purple feature wall for under £10
- Sherree Harding, 39, created a pink and purple feature wall in her room
- All she needed was frog tape and purple and white paints
- The transformation cost Sherree less than £10
If you’re bored of looking at the same four walls under lockdown, consider switching them up just like this creative mum.
Sherree Harding, 39, a mum of four from Droitwich Spa, transformed her bedroom with a girly feature wall - and it cost her less than £10.
Sherree told money-saving community LatestDeals.co.uk: “I first saw the idea on Facebook and really loved the images so I thought I would give it a go.
“I really wanted a challenge and hadn't decorated my bedroom so I thought 'why not'?
“I used six lots of Wilko Washi Tape, which cost £9, to create the pattern, and I already had leftover paint from Wickes.
“I used a dark purple and then I just started to add some white paint to some of the dark purple to lighten it each time I went up the wall to create the fading look.
“I started by painting the wall all white first. Then, I measured eight inches with a tape measure then went diagonally from each measurement with the Washi tape.
“I started with the dark purple first and painted the first four, then I mixed the purple with some white and painted the middle four the lighter purple and and so on.”
Sherree is delighted with how the wall has turned out, and says it has transformed her bedroom for the better.
“I'm really happy with it,” she adds. “I love going into my bedroom now - it feel lovely and light and always makes me smile. And all for under £10!
“My top tips would be to make sure you do your measurements and pull your tape off when the paint is still wet.
“This project was a good distraction during lockdown, and getting the kids painting the white undercoat kept them busy for a few hours!"
Tom Church, co-founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, comments: “Many of us are taking to DIY to get those projects we’ve been putting off for years done now there’s nowhere else to go.
“If you’re looking for an affordable and eye-catching way to transform your bedroom, living room or dining room, you can’t go wrong with frog tape and some eye-catching paint colours!
“Have a look on Facebook Marketplace to see if anyone near you is giving paint away for free to save on costs."
