Feeding your family on the cheap can be difficult, but one mum of three has revealed her tricks to getting regular bargains - as well as various skincare freebies.

Stacey Wilsoncroft, a 36 year old stay at home mum to three children aged 5, 17 months and 3 months in Spondon, Derby told money-saving community LatestDeals.co.uk: ‘I try to find reduced foods quite often to save my family money on our grocery bill. I like to stock up the freezer when I get some really good reductions.

‘Recently I bought three snack size pepperoni pizzas from my local Co-op which were reduced to only 40p each and the original price of these were 59p each. I checked my Co-op members app and there was a coupon for £1 off any chilled pizzas so I paid a total price of only 20p for all three pizzas.

‘I went into the Co-op after collecting my eldest son Leo from school which was around 4pm. I know this isn't the greatest time of day to pick up some reduced bargains but the good thing about our local Co-op is they do start to reduce foods around 3pm onwards.

‘This is ideal for a mum of three like me as I cannot get to the shops later in the evening as my children are in bed by 7pm.

‘The reduced items were in the sliding door fridge with all the fresh yogurts/dairy products. The Co-op tends to put reduced foods on the bottom shelf and they are highlighted on the shelf in red.

‘I only paid 20p for all three pizzas which should have cost £1.77. The great thing about them is you can freeze them too and save for times when the children just want a quick pizza for dinner.

‘I always look out for coupons on the apps or in the free magazines you get at the supermarkets and I use three different cashback apps to look for free foods or to get some money back on foods too.

‘My tips for finding the best food bargains are to try and get to the supermarkets at good times for reductions, generally shops start reducing food from 3pm and if you can get there later in the evening they can be heavily reduced. Sometimes there may not be much left, that's the only risk.

‘Also on a late Sunday afternoon before closing you can get some brilliant reductions. I once went to Asda and at 3.30pm on a Sunday they were selling loaves of bread, bagels, hotdog rolls and fresh packs of cobs for only 5p. So I stocked up my freezer. I even got a huge Batman birthday cake for my son for only £1.

‘Other tips are to always check the cashback apps when shopping too. You can pick up many freebies or discounts on lots of wonderful products and only buy the discounted ones if they are something you are interested in. I never get these just for the sake of it.

Posting regularly on Instagram as stacey.savvy.shopper, Stacey is always sharing her in-store bargains. ‘A few days ago I got a decent coupon shop from Asda. It was £13.50 before the coupons but I paid £6.50 after using my coupons.

‘I had another two coupons for Bodyform pantyliners and a lady was looking at these at the same time so I gave them to her. She was very grateful. These are currently on rollback for £1 a box so they were completely free with the coupons.

‘I also got some Pampers which were £2.50 after using a £2 coupon. A pack of Ariel pods were £1 after using a £2 coupon, and I got a bottle of Lenor Unstoppables on rollback at £4 instead of £7. What’s more, I saved a further £1 with a coupon.

‘Receiving freebies in the post is also a thrill for me. I got a number of nice products this week without paying anything. For example I got a set of four Blistex lip balms from Free4You, and some Equinox drinks from a Facebook advert. I also got some non-bio laundry capsules which I claimed through Love Rewards.

‘Finally I would also recommend making the most of store points and reward points. Last week I started putting away gifts for Christmas by using my rewards points at Kiehls. I picked up a beautiful skincare set for £2.50 instead of £12.50.’

‘It’s always worth checking out when your local stores tend to put out discounted items, and keeping an eye out for the latest deals on money-saving apps or websites.’
