New Child-Safe Smartphone with Remote Monitoring Launches in the UK
- Pinwheel phones allow parents to monitor texts, call history, and approve contacts
- Features include app and chat time limits and a curated app library for kids
- No social media apps or web browsers included to prioritise safety
- Aimed at teaching children healthy screen habits in a monitored environment
Parents in the UK now have access to Pinwheel, a child-safe smartphone operating system designed to provide both connectivity and peace of mind. Pinwheel offers remote monitoring features for parents, including access to text messages, call history, and the ability to approve contacts.
The device excludes social media apps and web browsers, addressing growing concerns about the impact of excessive screen time and social media on children’s well-being. Parents can set app time limits, gradually unlock features as their child matures, and manage the phone remotely via an online portal accessible on desktops or mobiles.
Pinwheel’s CEO, Dane Witbeck, explained: “Our phones offer a balance between fun and safety, ensuring children develop healthy habits around technology while avoiding the distractions of social media or unrestricted internet access.”
With no need for parents to navigate complex parental controls across multiple apps or devices, Pinwheel aims to simplify digital safety while keeping families connected.
