Image
  • Aldi offers a school lunchbox shopping list for under £10
  • Research shows parents spend over £23 weekly on packed lunches
  • Aldi’s list includes sandwich ingredients and snacks for £8.45
  • Supermarket also supports families through vouchers and donations

As the school term kicks back into gear, Aldi is offering parents a wallet-friendly solution to lunchbox preparation with a shopping list that comes in at just £8.45 – less than half the average £23 weekly spend revealed in a recent survey of 1,200 UK parents.

In an effort to ease the financial burden, Aldi's list includes everything needed for a week's worth of sandwiches and healthy snacks. Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said, "We’re proud of our unbeatable value which allows us to offer parents all the essentials to create packed lunches for under £10. That’s less than half what many parents currently pay according to our research."

Conducted by OnePoll, the survey highlighted that 73% of parents are stressed about new school year expenses, with over half (58%) opting for discount supermarkets and a third (33%) sticking to repetitive meal plans to save money.

Adding to their support, Aldi has launched a Back-to-School Fund, distributing £100 vouchers to parents throughout September. Additionally, £20,000 is being donated to initiatives through Neighbourly, aiding schools and nurseries to help families in need.

The detailed list from Aldi includes:

Sandwich ingredients:

- Village Bakery Medium Sliced Wholemeal Bread 800g – £0.75

- Greenvale Beautifully Buttery 500g – £0.95

- Ashfields Cooked Ham – £0.85
