Tesco has issued an apology following a major technical fault that led to the failure of thousands of grocery deliveries on Sunday morning. This disruption resulted in a wave of customer dissatisfaction, particularly evident on social media, where many labeled the event a "shambles." The supermarket giant acknowledged the inconvenience caused and assured that normal service had resumed by the afternoon.
The problems were most apparent around 9 am, as indicated by a peak in reports on the Downdetector website. Many customers complained about receiving cancellation notifications merely 20 minutes before their scheduled delivery, while others endured long waits before being informed of the issue. A Tesco spokesperson stated, “We’re really sorry that due to a technical issue, we had to cancel some online orders today. Our technical team have worked around the clock and have now fixed it. Customers who were impacted have been contacted directly. We apologize again for the inconvenience.”
Aoife Morgan at Retail Gazette reported on this incident, highlighting the struggles faced by both the company and its customers. Despite efforts to resolve the problem, some customers still found it challenging to reschedule their deliveries due to the unavailability of suitable time slots.
