Tesco's Big Save: VAT-Free F&F Period Pants
Deal Hunters,
Tesco has given a price break to its F&F clothing range, and it’s good news for our wallets. The store is absorbing the cost of VAT on its period pants collection, meaning prices have just taken a drop!
Harry Goodwin at The Sun reported that while other period products saw the removal of the 20% tax in 2021, period pants weren't part of that exemption. But Tesco’s changing that for their customers. Just to give you a sense: a three-pack of F&F period pants has now been reduced from £18 to a much more pocket-friendly £14.40. And if you just want to get a single pack then it's down from £7.50 to £6.
It’s worth noting that Tesco isn’t new to such initiatives. Christine Heffernan from Tesco shared that they were the first to cover the VAT on period products back in 2017, and they're keeping up with their commitment to affordability.
This isn’t just a Tesco move. They’ve joined the 'Say Pants To The Tax' campaign – aiming to get period pants reclassified as period products rather than garments. If successful, it means they’d be VAT exempt. And they’re not alone. Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, John Lewis, Primark, and Waitrose have all backed this campaign.
Tom Church, Co-Founder of shopping community LatestDeals.co.uk, commented on the news, saying, "It's encouraging to see big retailers like Tesco taking a step forward in making essential products more affordable. Every penny counts for consumers, and this move undoubtedly eases the financial burden on many."
