General Tips for Enjoying Thorpe Park

  1. Bring zip-lock sandwich bags for your electronics and while on water rides.
  2. Choose a landmark to meet up at in case one of you gets lost – especially if you have little ones with you!
  3. Write your contact details on a small slip of paper and put them in smaller children’s pockets – it’ll make it easier to contact you if they get lost!
  4. Bring spare clothes in case you get a bit too carried away riding Tidal Wave.
  5. Change into flip flops when riding water rides.
  6. Bring lots of water. There is water available on park, but it’s always good to have your own supply in case you find yourself queuing for longer than expected.
  7. It’s great to know from the start what rides you can and can’t ride. Head to Guest Services and get measured to avoid any potential let-downs.
  8. Want to beat the queues? Head over to SAW and Nemesis Inferno first thing and work your way forwards. There are fewer queues at the back of the park at the start of the day.
  9. Rainy day equals no crowds and less queuing.
  10. Grab a bite slightly later, more like 3 PM. Restaurants on park can get pretty busy around lunchtime so saving food until later means you’ll skip the queue for food.
  11. If number 10 isn’t quite what you had in mind, bring a picnic with you instead.
  12. Buy your ticket online BEFORE your visit. No queues when you arrive, just walk straight up to the gate and scan your printed ticket!
  13. Do your research! Have a look online at the rides you want to go on most and build a plan of action to tick them all off.
  14. Arrive before park opening. If you arrive 15 mins before the gates open, you’ll be able to take advantage of the shortest queues of the day.
  15. Take a picture of where you’ve parked.
  16. If you need to pay for parking buy your ticket at the start of the day – that way you won’t have to queue to pick one up later!
  17. Be prepared to find yourself in a queue at some point during the day. Phone games are great for boredom busting.
  18. If your favorite coaster is SAW: The Ride then be sure to take the short cut directly there and bypass the crowds!
  19. Food and drinks aren’t allowed on rides, but they ARE allowed in queues!
  20. Queue lines close at the advertised park closing time, not the park itself. Join the queue at the very last minute and sneak in one last ride.

History of Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park is a popular amusement park located in Surrey, England, 20 miles southwest of Central London. It is currently operated by Merlin Entertainments and hosts a variety of rides and events, including Stealth, the UK's fastest rollercoaster. The park was originally opened as an outdoor activity park in 1979 and has since grown into one of the major theme parks in the UK. The park saw several ownership changes over the years with The Tussauds Group acquiring it in 1998 and Merlin Entertainments taking over operation in 2007

Food & Drink Options

Thorpe Park has a range of food and drink options to cater to all tastes. However, the restaurants can get pretty busy around lunchtime. Consider grabbing a bite slightly later, around 3PM. Alternatively, you can bring a picnic and eat whenever you like. There are plenty of areas to enjoy a picnic, such as the Sunken Gardens behind Stealth

According to their website, they have several restaurants, bars, and coffee shops throughout the park. Guests can save money by pre-booking their food and drink online with meal deals for adults and children.

Some of the food options available at the park include all-you-can-eat pizza, pasta, and salad at Infernos Pizza Pasta, hand-crafted doughnuts at Doughnut Time, and freshly made tacos at Tacotaria. There are also several fast-food chains available such as Burger King and KFC.

Many of the park’s food outlets offer vegan and vegetarian options, and some also cater to those with dietary requirements such as gluten-free options. Guests can download the park’s free app to view the latest menus, allergen information, payment options, and discounts.

Thorpe Park Annual Events

Thorpe Park Resort hosts several annual events throughout the year. According to their website, this includes Mardi Gras, Carnival, Oktoberfest, and FRIGHT NIGHTS in October.

Rides and Attractions

Thorpe Park boasts a wide variety of rides and attractions suitable for all ages and thrill levels. Some of the park's standout attractions include:

  • Stealth: The United Kingdom's fastest rollercoaster. This ride goes from 0-80mph in less than 2 seconds and reaches heights of up to 205ft.
  • Colossus: A record-breaking rollercoaster with ten inversions.
  • Nemesis Inferno: This rollercoaster is a sibling to the famous Nemesis at Alton Towers, providing its own thrilling and disorientating experience.
  • SAW – The Ride: A horror-themed rollercoaster based on the SAW franchise, complete with a beyond-vertical drop.
  • Tidal Wave: A water ride that lives up to its name, be prepared to get soaked!

To beat the queues, head over to SAW and Nemesis Inferno first thing in the morning, then work your way forwards. There are usually fewer queues at the back of the park at the start of the day, and you'll find yourself working against the crowds all day

Accessibility

Thorpe Park is committed to ensuring that all visitors, regardless of their additional needs or requirements, can enjoy their visit. Detailed information about the park's accessibility can be found on the official website.

Bought a season ticket only to find out hat season ticket holders can’t book tickets even when tickets are available. They are using coronavirus as an excuse to scam customers. Very deceitful. In process of taking legal action. Don’t book season tickets... Customer service also pointless. Read off a script, don’t listen, and hang up if you interrupt. Avoid. When I've been though I have had a wonderful time.

I really wish I could post pictures of how good Thorpe park is but as I cant then I will put it in words . From the moment you walk into the park your in a different world which will bring smiles to you , your family and will result in a brilliant day of white knuckle rides to a lazy day on the beach .Yes the beach and the kids will have a brilliant day .From Derren Brown to the SAW ride the rides come thick and thin and if you ever want to go onto Thorpe park then I would strongly recommend getting Merlin passes as the joy you will get cannot be put into words .

I LOVE Thorpe Park. It is by far my favourite theme park in the UK. There are often deals such as 241 on tickets, or free entry for kids, so make sure you look at what offers are about before you purchase tickets. If purchasing at full price it can be slightly pricey however you have to remember that you get a full days worth of fun. Customer services are really helpful on the website. I had to contact them to see whether they were still open at the start of the pandemic (before lock down) and they were really knowledgeable of what was going on within the company (unlike other companies). Parking at Thorpe Park is never full so you don't have to worry about not getting in (at least I've never experienced being turnt away). The website is really easy to use and you can save £ on bookings online in advance. There are also options to add accomodation to your tickets and sometimes works out cheaper by doing this when purchasing in bulk.
