What Was Your 1st Car You Purchased??
Ask a Question
And what year did you purchase in ? and how much did you pay ? And are they still manufacturing the car you purchased ?
Our family car was a second-hand Toyota Corolla which was bought in 1990 and I can't remember how much we paid for it. It was a good little runner which lasted a few years.
My first car was a Ford Fiesta Popular Plus, l cannot remember how much it cost me but part of the registration was YPJ.. perfect l thought (yes please Jann)..but it kept going wrong, wouldn't start & hated hills so it became (you plonker Jann)
Pinkspirit that's made me laugh thanks, funny how we remember the reg of our cars, I actually like ford's think because they were supposed to be cheap for spares, or so my dad reckoned
Bonnylass3 l was told the same, cheap to run and cheap for spares..l love a Ford
Never actually purchased nor owned a car but over the years have had access to Escorts, Capri, Marina, Allegro, Astra, Mini, Mini pick-up, Volvo, Peugeot, Fiesta. Some more better than others.
lilyflower yeah they're some off the classic makes and models except didn't like Peugeot much
My first car was a 1974 Ford Escort Mk1 RS2000 that I paid £100 for in 1989 it needed lot of work which I did myself, I kept it for years and only sold it because I got a ridiculous offer for it, and I mean a ridiculous amount of money
martinlufc5637 Wow they were awesome cars, I had a Sierra Cosworth, but only for 5 weeks as some kind person broke into our alarmed garage and stole it, so then I purchased a XR2 the boxy type, loved that car.......
Bonnylass3 I loved mark 2 escorts, they were so cheap to buy years ago, I had a MK2 Mexico and it got nicked, cosworths were a beast of a car
martinlufc5637 yeah definitely in my top 5 of all time cars the cosworths, my friend had a red MK2 Mexico and used to drive us barmy coz he never got out of 3rd gear, think he was scared of the power!!
Bonnylass3 yeah Mexico's are pretty powerful, simple to fix, never breakdown, not like today's crap, loved working on escort engines, I learned everything from one of those massive manuals you had back in the day, the ones always covered in grease and oil when asked if anyone had one you could borrow and never give back lol
I bought a 2008 Vauxhall Corsa in 2018 for about £3,000. It had only done about 30k miles at that time, it's now got just over 112k miles
MartinBluck wow that was a awesome bargain and still is with such low mileage, you'd still get a good price now if you sold it
An Opal Kadett, similar to this one -
My god it was a dog, it stunk of cabbage when the engine got hot, and the clutch gave out at the worse possible time.
blacklabrador lol, I remember them, used to see a lot of orange coloured ones around where we lived, very much like the old astra....cor bet you smelt beautiful getting out of that lol
Bonnylass3 Let's just say the windows were always open for ventilation, which was great fun in Winter.
My first Car was a Vauxhall Cavalier. I bought this In 1996. I paid £250 for It and It cost me about £250 to get It through the MOT. Yes I got ripped off. I just passed my test and I was In an underground Car Park and I tore the side In by trying to get the Car In between a Car and a Concrete Column. Lesson learned.
Emerge11 oops big lesson learnt but gave me a good laugh this afternoon as the heavens have just opened massively and its time.for.the dogs walk, which always seems to rain at this time!!
Ford focus that i bought from my parents, was a nice car that was perfect for me as it was cheap to maintain and repair
Wow good topic,My first car was Toyota Yaris bought it for £2200 and that time paid insurance £2500 third party only,I miss my first car
My first car was a black Morris Minor with a split windscreen made in 1953.I drove to college in it from 1966 to 1970 and it served me well.It was called 00N (A) which was part of the number plate lettering.I think it was £100 to buy but not sure on that one.Fond memories of happy motoring with few cars about.
