Get some smart TRVs for your radiators so you are only heating the rooms you are in.

BonzoBanana it is exasperating when folk walk around in t shirts and turn heating up instead of putting layers of warm clothing on.

Layer up, use a hot water bottle, only heat the room that you spend most time in and keep the door closed.

Layer up. Leave oven door open when you have cooked. Buy draught excluder window tape and draught excluders for bottom of doors. Keep curtains drawn.

If you got a combi boiler lower the flow temp to 60°C. That will save you some money.

I just keep the thermostat at a constant 19°C like the boiler people advised when they installed the new one. It is very efficient and the heating will come on for a few minutes, heat the bungalow and click off again (like thermostats do 😃) Even at 19, sometimes it gets too warm and I have to turn it down.

I'm not one for thick layers of clothes and I'm happier in my shorts and t-shirt. I did put some joggers on once when it was cold and I was ill.

Come to think about it, I don't think I can give any useful advice 🤔

buy an electric blanket far cheaper than heating a whole room, just cosy up in bed and watch tv.

Get a mobile oil filled radiator for the room that you want to heat instead of heating the whole house. They are cheap to run

Go to your local library, you can sit and read for hours or treat yourself to a coffee in a cafe. Youll only need to turn your heating on once home.

We layer up and just add extra layers like blankets if needed. Turn the radiator down in rooms that aren't being used. Turn the thermostat down and have the radiator at 3 or 4 instead of 5. Keep curtains closed to keep the heat in. If using th oven leave the door open to heat the kitchen. Keep doors closed to keep the heat in.

MrsCraig if you have pets then it's hard to keep doors closed

AmandaChoo we have a dog, I keep the doors closed all the time. I open them to let her out and then close it again straight away. She tells me when she needs out. Never had anissue closing doors with any pets we've had.

I find a hot water bottle very comforting and works well to heat you up

I use gas, instead of showering everyday, I fill the sink with hot water and do a full body wash at the sink.

Might sound horrible, but it saves me gas that I can put towards heating when I need it.

Layer up with a jumper, dressing gown or a blanket. Only heat up the room/rooms you are using

Still put the heating on. But I don't put it on in the morning during the week as the house warms in time for us to leave. Blankets and hot water bottles. I put the heating on just to for an hour or so to stop damp and to help keep it a bit warmer. I've 3 heaters. 2 downstairs and one in the hallway up stairs

I use my slow cooker a lot. This hears the kitchen up ever so slightly but it's helps and the days I have it on during the day I come home from work. Foods ready and the house feels warmer straight away

Use a hot water bottle, blankets, practice cold therapy (there are different types, helps the body deal with lower temperatures, incidentally can also improve well-being), dress in layers and use a dehumidifier (low cost, reduces moisture levels) 😃
