Ban if Cars on Pavement
Other
To be honest I'm glad. It can be a pain finding parking but it's not fair on disabled people or those with kids.
I totally agree with this J, not only does it block the way for buggies and wheelchairs, it lifts the paving slabs or damages the surface with the weight of the vehicle, especially with 4 wheel drives and EVs being heavier
They are only built for pedestrians, not cars
I understand it’s not illegal to park on the pavement so the law needs to change to ban it.
If large SUVs don't park on the pavement to a degree they can block the road on smaller roads preventing emergency vehicles, vans and other SUVs from getting through. It could well create more problems that it solves. I would just ban vehicles from parking on minor roads over a certain width. This inconvenience would surely curb SUV sales. It's like car parks, the other day there was a SUV perfectly positioned with regard the white lines as best it could be but it was too wide for those lines so it prevented normal cars parking either side unless they were smart cars. We need to be encouraging smaller more efficient cars so there would be no need to park on pavements and not block roads either. We need KEI class cars like Japan which are small but have far less tax on them and have much more freedom to go where they want compared to full size cars.
Our citizens who are visually impaired depend on clear pavements. There should have been a ban on this as soon as it started happening.
This is my pet hate. For years I struggled with a pram or shopping trolley, now I'm disabled and have to use a rollator and more often than not, Im forced to walk down the middle of the road as there's no space on the path.
