Where Can I Find an Affordable Source for AA Batteries?

Ask a Question

Wilko used to be the best value for money for these but now it’s gone, where is best to buy them? I don’t have a b&m or home bargains near me in my town. Not sure ours is being taken over either.

I don’t buy batteries and have not for a long time. Get yourself rechargeable ones Instead and a Intelligent battery charger. The charger Is around four pounds and so is the batteries. They are both on ebay.

Emerge11 I think we do have one and we do recharge but they still lose effective power eventually.

JLouM Then they're not reliable anymore and they're draining faster.

I read Eneloops batteries are fantastic (I have plenty of rechargeable ones so won't buy any more).

Try 7dayshop. I use them frequently for batteries. Good prices too.

I get mine from poundland, it saves me a fortune with the kids as they always seem to need batteries.

Nadiaparveen Beware of Poundland batteries. They do not last very long or even suitable for audio or whatever. Remember it is cheap for a reason.

jam45 Yeah don't buy the zinc ones but the poundland alkaline batteries are fine. Also poundstretcher does a cheap pack of Hyundai AA alkaline batteries. Something like 20 for £4 which are great value. Ikea also used to be great value for alkaline batteries but not been in a Ikea for years.

I used to have a battery charger that recharged normal batteries and rechargeable batteries of all sizes many years ago, where it went i don't know

It did work but i never used it much as i never had a lot that needed batteries apart from the tv remote

You just had to be careful you didnt mix normal and rechargeable together , risking it exploding

I found a you tube video about this , but not a great result

telmel I personally don't use rechargeables for products that have a very long life, i.e. clocks, remote controls, maybe small radios etc. I mean a AAA battery in a clock might last 3 years and wouldn't want to tie up a rechargeable battery for all that time although not sure they would last that long anyway. Nimh rechargeable batteries can last a reasoanble time but I don't think they compare to alkaline for low current devices like clocks. Alkaline are less likely to leak than zinc or rechargeable batteries typically although not rechargeable alkaline batteries though once you start doing that they can start leaking very easily. At one point I was using rechargeable AA batteries in bicycle lights but would take spare normal alkaline batteries with me just in case they ran out of charge.

Try Poundland, Primark or Lidl. I tend to get ours from Lidl as I find them the best cheap ones. You could always try rechargeable batteries.

I usually purchase most of my batteries from home bargains. Very reasonable price.
