As far as keeping track goes, I do an excel spreadsheet of all comps I enter and prefer to sort them primarily in closing date order but you could sort them any way you choose. That way if I get an email about a comp I can easily tell if I have already entered it through a comp site as some sites disqualify you if you enter more then once!

Well you have posted a topic about how to find competitions on the best platform for finding them. I have rarely found a comp that doesn't end up on here. When you say easy to enter, well that is a matter of perspective as you would have to click the enter button to find out the entry requirements. Mrs T has given good advice on keeping track, although I don't bother, I just enter and keep my fingers crossed.

I have been entering and giving my email address but often get scammers saying I’ve won something. How do you distinguish the genuine ones you’ve entered? I’ve never won anything yet anyway but just want to be careful but not miss out on something if I did win.

JLouM I get it on social media competitions sometimes J , thats why i tend to avoid them unless it is a big company, i dont post social media comps anymore for this reason

I usually check the profile and the followers, if a few or none it is fake , i then report the post, but with facebook etc they dont really care and just let it continue

ps , just an added note

If you are doing rafflecopter or gleam competitions double check the terms and conditions

I have found a lot of them are not for UK entries, sometimes just for the US or other countries

If you enter, it wont be valid , but they will have your details , and because you have to enter multiple ways through social media etc , they will know all about you , and because a lot of this type of thing is unregulated you will get lots of spam , as i believe they sell on your details

The good thing about LD is they tend to filter out these type of comps but if you get an e mail direct or use another site you might fall foul of this

Unfortunately i still get a lot of ridiculous and quite rude spam now which i believe has originated from these competition entries

JLouM the very first comp I entered on instagram i got a scam saying I had won but quickly realised it would be announced more publicly if it were genuine, not by DM asking for all your details or even bank details.

I no longer do social media comps as they are too much trouble, website is much easier. Whenever I have won online I have received an email and the first word is nearly always congratulations.........

You would know if it was suss by what they ask for.

I was always getting spam with repeated emails from same source saying I had won something, often a gobbledegook email address too, so easy to spot.

I am a nerd and have a full spreadsheet on the go (but then spreadsheets is my job!) , with all the daily entries that enter - currently just over 100 a day on the go at the moment but I am getting fussier which prizes I go for. I also use some of the tools available within Microsoft Edge - a notes page available on certain pages where I need a prompt for the answer, I also have an extension that means I can copy the links to a batch of competitions in to the dialog and it opens all the pages in one go. Usually have them in batches of up to 40 tabs open each time. Saves a lot of time! The new AI tools can also be useful when you are looking for an answer to a competition!

didbygraham Blimey I never thought of using AI. I shall now increase the number of competitions I am about to enter. Thanks for this useful tip.
