Black Friday

Ask a Question

Is anyone getting fed up of black friday ?

I am , its becoming part of everyday life now, which means being inundated with e mails, text messages and tv adverts nearly every few weeks

And most of the deals are either normal prices or overpriced as they post a price the item has been inflated for a week then post it cheaper, which is what it is normally, so it can be a con

I‘m definitely sick and tired. The discounts just aren’t worth it. Most of them you already see all year round.

Yes! I'm sick of the emails, I've been inundated with them this year, and none of them are offering anything that interests me. I've never really understood the appeal of Black Friday anyway, I never purchase anything.

Black Friday is overrated and an American concept. Buy something when you want to, not when others are doing so. There are plenty of deals all year round.

It amuses me - some of the comments on the deals made by members on here . Amazon having a BF sale , Argos having a BF sale , Currys having a BF sale - And members swooning at the "great prices " NOT !

I've had a look through and there has been one great deal (almost unnoticed by LD members )

https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/deals/challenge-conquer-26-inch-wheel-size-mens-mountain-bike-argos#5fc2b53b74a8671b274539fc

Not my deal , but a brand new bike for £100 (Not top of the range obviously ,but a perfectly serviceable bike ) . Members must learn to spot a deal when they see one and not fawn over the mass of non deals posted daily on here !

Know the value of what you want to buy ,check prices , then decide at what price you would consider it a deal . One day I'll teach LD members what constitutes a deal ?

Maybe then we will see members cease posting non deals on a daily basis !

Yes, it’s annoying. I’ve only had a look in a few places, but there’s a lot of hype over nothing. You can get good deals all year round

Saw this subject and thought I'd reignite it rather than start a new thread.

It's not so much being sick of Black Friday, but since when was it decided that it would start weeks before the date!

Went out this morning, returned 3 hours later to 190 emails, 95% of which had some variant of "Black Friday" in the subject line.

Every site I've purchased from, entered a competition with, or otherwise browsed seem to think I now want to hear about their "not to be missed" black Friday deals.

That said, If anyone finds any deals on Twinkly Smart Christmas Tree Lights let me know 😅

The emails have really escalated this past week. TBH they are out of control.

Some companies send one saying 'we got something coming' others send the same thing several times a day and as BL says above the title 'black friday' makes you delete them without even looking.

It is like a lot of things in this country, Christmas starts in September, Easter starts in January etc.. It wouldn't be so bad if was only for a couple of days.

I have thought about this a great deal and think that perhaps the reality is that companies are really struggling and would rather drop the prices significantly rather than not sell anything at all. We are in a sad world, it is difficult all round. 🥴

I must admit I thought yesterday was Black Friday by mistake as I had one email stating 'Black Friday week' but it was the lead up to next Friday which is Black Friday and perhaps other shops will start their Black Friday week on the actual day.

As ever you have to look at the final price as there are so many fake deals. Perhaps 80-90% of deals out there you could have found the same or cheaper price before Black Friday. Also sometimes there is very limited stock sold at a low price so its effectively a lottery whether you will get anything.

This is definitely a good time to get Christmas presents as December I find generally is a month of higher prices ready for the overstock to be sold more cheaply after Christmas in the January sales.

BonzoBanana I had a couple of discussions/arguments yesterday with people insisting it was Black Friday, so it seems to be confusing a lot of people.

I was never ever remotely interested in Black Friday anyway or Blue Mondays,Red Wednesdays or Turquoise Tuesdays either.Just finished reading about Freud's nephew Edward Louis Bernay who seized the ideas of his uncle for promotion and propaganda means.Tap into the felt psychological 'needs' of people and use them for unethical marketing..naught changes lol. MelissaLee1 We should celebrate those who refuse to be manipulated like sheep, those that choose their own clothes, lifestyle and interests rather than follow trends. These trends are often extremely damaging to our economy as more goods are imported that people don't need and are replacing perfectly good existing products.

However all that said and done there are some bargains on Black Friday amongst all the fake deals.

I'm generally fine with black Friday but what I'm less fine with is black Friday is not black Friday. I swear a lot of black Friday deals have been advertised as such for a month and not a particular day. I think it's lost all meaning of it (not that there was one for us).
