Black Friday and Cyber Monday Finished, High Prices until the January Sales?
Other
Seems like we have now entered the typical high price zone before Christmas after Black Friday and Cyber Monday so expect prices to be higher for many items with reduced offers and deals until after Christmas. Of course there will still be I'm sure some good offers here and there but there won't be as many. This period always seems the worst period to buy Christmas presents. I don't have many Christmas presents to buy but I've got all the main ones now and I feel like I got good prices for what I've bought but if I bought those same items today, it would have been about £30 more overall. The Sharp microwave I bought off ebay which was £150 with 20% off plus I made use of Quidco's £5 bonus cashback and a higher rate of normal ebay cashback so perhaps £110 overall would now be about £134 using today's 10% off code and reduced cashback.
This is why we buy in the sales ect.. before the the final 3 weeks up to Christmas , when prices are inflated for the last minute buyers
This is why i find christmas a little pointless for myself, as a tightwad it kills me to buy stuff, only for it to be greatly reduced after Christmas day.
I get gifts for friends and family but just wait to buy what i want for myself, in the boxing day sales.
jms19 There needs to be a church of tightwads, I feel like that is the only religion I could appreciate and feel part of. I really hate paying more than I have to for anything except minor purchases. I always spend time finding the best deal for anything over £10 it seems. Actually I do waste money occasionally like takeaways but generally I always look for value.
I get perverse pleasure out of buying something much cheaper just before the price increase. I find that very satsifying.
This is why you need to buy when the price is right. Even for silly things like cranberry sauce. I buy it in June before it hikes for Christmas
I hate all this confusion with the rising and lowering the price before and after sales. It really gets me when you buy things then see it much lower in theJanuary sales used to be the way to get a bargain, not these days so unpredictable .
LL81 Yes I've looked at Aliexpress prices now and I'd have to pay about 20% more overall. I wanted to buy a few small items etc but I just can't bring myself to pay the higher price. I will wait until their January sales promotion to order the small PC cables and fans I need.
