Can Bubble Wrap be Used to Keep Rooms Warmer in Winter?

Ask a Question

Has anyone actually tried placing them on windows 🪟 with spraying water 💦 first and placing them on to keep rooms warm from the winter ❄️ cold 🥶 temperatures?

I did to the downstairs toilet window. I kept it on for one month. The window sill had condensation. A load of rubbish.

jam45 yeah that’s what I’m afraid of spraying the water and then the condensation will be so annoying! Having to wipe it dry! 🤦🏻‍♀️

It’s annoying when it’s winter season all windows will be full of condensation and if you don’t wipe it there’s puddles on windowsills and will cause mould too

kitty88uk This morning I used an Aldi 2 in 1 Squeegee (purchased from their "middle aisle" for £1.99 months ago) and the window looks fantastic. Don't forget an old tea towel or micro cloth to mop up the condensation.

kitty88uk I never thought of doing this! I usually give my old, clean "rags" to H&M for recycling.

jam45 we run a dehumidifier in winter. This stops condensation and worth every penny.

kitty88uk if you place your clothes near the dehumidifier then the moisture gets absorbed by it, so less condensation.

Pjran I go to the launderette regardless of the weather (except on a boiling hot day) and pay £2 for a 12 minutes spin, removing the light weight clothing first and continue paying until the thicker items are BONE DRY.

Buy a karcher window vac instead, we use ours for condensation, made a huge difference, bubble wrap would be useless

Jinky67 oh really, it works? Do you have your radiators on too and with the bubble wrap it helps keep the warmth in room for few hours?

kitty88uk Years ago, a British Gas engineer - repair or service department, told me not to put anything whatsoever on the radiators, including dry clothing.

I assume you get some of these tips from TikTok. Several newspapers have warned their readers not to follow 90% of these tips or advice. (They both dangerous and unnecessary).
