What are Must-Haves for Christmas Dinner?
Ask a Question
What does everyone have to have on a Christmas dinner without fail and what’s one things you wouldn’t mind not having on there.
For me I have to have Yorkshire puddings or pigs in blankets 100%.
I’d happily miss out on roasties for them
I have to have cranberry sauce but I can do without yorkies, they are certainly not traditional with Xmas dinner and who in their right mind would have them instead of roasties
Lynibis never instead of, but always as well as rosties, gotta be a proper homemade Yorkie though
Always have pigs in blankets and Yorkshire pudding on mine. Bread sauce I mean what's that about. Its wrong
Jerseydrew never tried bread sauce and certainly something I wouldn’t put on a Christmas dinner
Jerseydrew I had an ex with four kids and they were brought up with bread sauce with every roast dinner, especially Xmas. We were all at a well known carvery once and the teen girl slavered her meal with bread sauce only to start eating and realise it was horseradish sauce!
This year I'm going to have sprouts if I can cook them I never get the right they always come out like bullets so I'm gonna cut them thin and fry them with bacon always wanted to try it
I don’t generally eat a Christmas dinner as I’m not a fan but I serve up a dinner for everyone else. I am like you though and love pigs in blankets. This year we are not having a Christmas dinner as I will flying back from Barbados and will probably be sleeping most of Christmas Day.
I love roasted parsnips but can’t stand sprouts. As long as meat, potatoes and veg with gravy everything else is choices and extras.
I don't care for cranberry sauce, but MrsChimp has to have it. I have to have pigs in blankets, but MrsChimp isn't fussed.
After reading a few comments here, can anyone tell me when yorkies with Xmas dinner became a thing?
Christmas Dinner same as my Sunday dinner as I have everything on them yorkers Brussels roast potatoes and parsnips
I have to have pigs in blankets. They have to be there. We never bother with sprouts as none of us like them. Never have Yorkshire puddings, although I know some people do.
Miss out on roast potatoes? That is blasphemy! I do agree though pigs in blankets are a necessity on Christmas dinner
jms19 I cud never ever miss out the roast potatoes, it's not a roast without rosties
slightfoot my thoughts exactly, can’t beat a nice crispy roast potato with gravy etc.
