Do You Consider Yourself a "Working Person" ?
Ask a Question
Now a pensioner I have worked every day of my life since I was about 11 .
I think that is normal for those born in the 1950s ?
I am by no means "hard up" due to a lifetime of work and saving . I certainly consider myself a "working person " now retired .
No silver spoon just a lifetime of work . Yet in various ways it seems that I (and other working persons ) will be a target of the upcoming budget .
Thankfully the government has promised (in their manifesto) that working people will not suffer tax rises . Watch this space !
I wouldn't consider a retired person a working person. The country's finances are in a terrible mess so the government is looking to find more money from extra taxation and looking for those with more disposable income. Many working people now have very little money, housing costs are huge, energy costs are huge and wages are low for millions now. Wealthy pensioners seem a likely candidate for more taxation. In my opinion sales tax should be where they increase taxation. We have a huge trade deficit and reducing that trade deficit should be the number one priority so products mainly imported should get higher tax in my opinion, cars, wine, perfume etc. So not only will that increase tax revenue but also reduce imports.
