Are You Dreading Christmas?

I don't think many of us will have much choice sadly. With Christmas I usually buy slowly throughout the year anyway as my sons birthday is a week after, but this year I'm buying alot more earlier as I just can’t see anything being cheaper in December than it is now. Personally as long as the kids are happy Christmas morning I don’t need anything else.

I am dreading Xmas, i will deffo be cutting back especially the bills. I only buy presents in the sales or second hand on fb marketplace or ebay. Charity shops are usually good. I bought a friend a pair of Jeans from charity shop for £2.20 and they were originallyfrom next.

Yes I am. I not longer put heating on even if I am freezing. I put extra layers on including socks and jumpers. I even wear a pair of leggings underneath jeans. I rarely use washer and dryer unless I have a big huge load I can do. I fill my washer up as much as I can. Dont use dryer, everything gets put on washing line unless its bad waether outside. I now usually only buy super markets own branded items.

I stick to a budget for Christmas already and I don't go over it. I only buy for family and I use vouchers from surveys to buy our sons presents. I don't go overboard on anything, I only buy food for the main meal and desert and don't buy loads of presents either. I save throughout the year to afford it and will be doing the same this year.

I think that the overinflated electricity prices will hit households far before Christmas arrives and the outcome cannot bode well. We are a rich nation with poor inhabitants. The wealth is far too concentrated at the top.

i don’t usually enjoy christmas much anyway but even more so this year with struggling to buy gifts, food etc

I am this year with the price of everything and it's going to go up again so I've started getting some bits in

I know everybody is feeling the squeeze. I definitely have been been cutting back alot and trying to get bargains now to prepare for Christmas. It's been a tough this year.

I think everyone should stop the unnecessary gifts buy what you can afford for those under your own roof all those unnecessary gift set can really add up

I'm sure many must be . Perhaps it is time to pre warn and douse the expectations ? Fewer big pressies - no over reaching on every kind of food (that the Supermarkets tempt us into each year ? much of which ends up in the bin ) .

I know we all like to over indulge , but perhaps this year make do with a "Victorian Xmas" where a decent meal and a few pieces of fruit and chocolates were considered more than ample . Only since the 1980's have we felt the need for more .

Let's face it it is only since "marketing " by the large companies became rife that we ever thought we needed all the stuff they foist on us every Xmas ?

Yes iam this year I don't buy many now I stopped a few year ago adults understand its the kids I feel it for they don't understand I do buy far to much food and crap at Christmas I always have I still have things I bought at Christmas but this year I need to NOT buy it

I always dread xmas but we start buying early-ish,which helps.

I spend only what I can afford. At every inch of Christmas I don't wait till November and December to deal with Christmas. I bought my turkey on boxing day and it currently resides in my freezer,decorations I buy anytime after Christmas day onwards.

I normally buy throughout the year to spread the cost, only buying when items are on offer. I set myself a budget for each person and try to keep to it. Although I do tend to go overboard with my son. But this year I will be cutting back, as I am helping him out with grocery bills, I do a online shop once or twice a month. He didn't ask he just mentioned, in conversation that once he paid his bills, he had £60 to buy food and everything else. So I rather give practical help, when I can.

I have been cutting back on Christmas for the last few years and I must say I feel so much better about Christmas.

Sorry to be a bah humbug but it's been only me for Christmas since 2017, no family, no presents just working in the carer position, listening to christmas songs, watching a movie and going for a walk.

I’ve always had to budget. It’s a bit awkward because all our sisters and husbands have had children and we couldn’t. So we always have to buy more than what we receive. I know it’s about giving but it’s unbalanced and quite difficult.

Not really, I have been buying from various sales throughout the year, just need a couple of tablets for kids and I'm done
