What's your Favourite Part of Christmas?
Ask a Question
I know, I know we've not even had Halloween yet but...... I have started to think about Christmas, I'm having a super cheap year this year, no presents unless they are homemade/ upcycled ect....... but I do love Chrismas, my favourite part is just slumping on the sofa after dinner, watching some old rubbish film
What's your favourite part?, any plans yet?
My favourite part is watching my mum and dad play with our son and his new toys. He gets so excited to show Granny and Grandad what he got and how they work. Whatever they buy for him Grandad has to play with him.
Got to be the Christmas dinner for me! I don’t really get presents these days but love my Christmas roast and then 3 desserts
jms19 omg 3 desserts!!!, Im intrigued do you have the same 3, I'm thinking Christmas pud, Christmas cake and chocolate log?
slightfoot usually 3 different ones but I’m not one for traditional Christmas desserts tbh. Usually try whatever the new one is from waitrose and then make a trifle
It’s got to be dinner and playing silly games together. Presents are less important these days as all the younger ones are now adults.
JLouM yes I agree, presents get less and less important, it's nice just to be together
TheChimp oh no, I understand Christmas is not a great time for alot of folk, ***
slightfoot I'm just a grumpy get.
I don't mind Xmas alone with MrsChimp, but I don't really enjoy socializing.
TheChimp ha ha ha, I know what you mean, it's nice just to snuggle down and hibernate sometimes
VickySeale I don't blame you there, I work in social care so we all have to work, however it's my turn to work boxing day this year which means I'm off Christmas day, we alternate it each year, woohoo
slightfoot ...My partner & I are both Support Workers at the same company, opposite ends of Sheffield under different Manager's,his Christmas Rota is out already,I'm still waiting for mine.
Just spending time with my family. They live abroad (well I suppose I live abroad as my whole family lives in France ) and I don't see them often.
G0501 yes that's what it's all about, spending time together, hope you have a lovely one x
paultyson10 oh I can only imagine what a nightmare Christmas is for you, I'm in social care so also work, but Christmas for us is great loads of activities, entertainment and visitors, I could not do retail, must be manic
Watching my kids faces when they see what they have got they never ask for much so I get what they want and a few other ones
Consumer i must admit I'm alittle jealous, I have Christmas day off this year, but will be working all the other days, I'm in social care so have always worked the festive periods, 24 years now, my dream is to have the 2 weeks off,lol
slightfoot LOL A nice dream to have! Social care is really needed though so good on you for working
coupons12a fair enough, with all the doom and gloom it the world, it's nice to enjoy the good times
Well as both my sons have moved out now & are both visiting us Christmas day that will be my favourite part & the dinner & wine
Tbh I prefer the run up to Christmas more than the day. I have a few festive nights out/activities with friends & family planned to look forward too.
Xmas day at home is great. Boxing day is my 2nd Xmas. Go to my dad's and its crazy. Love it though
Christmas!!! Hmmmm, I'm a live-in carer so will be getting up and making the breakfast, 3 hours in the kitchen doing a full roast, crap tv, walking the dog and the day getting dark very quickly. Christmas!! Its just a day to me.. bar humbug
My Rota isn't done yet,my partner's is done already, he's doing some Training tomorrow with my Assistant Manager so he is going to ask when my Christmas Rota is going to be done. We can't plan anything with our daughter who will be home from University for Christmas until it's done..
slightfoot ,I think that I will be working it this year, last year 2 of my colleagues did the Christmas period & another Colleague & I were down to do the New Year period.
I got Covid when it was New Year, was NOT ill, slight cough & sniffles that's all but I had to stay at home to protect others,I was that bored I did 15,000 steps around my house one day as I couldn't go outside, that's how ill I was !
Midnight mass for me. A walk on Christmas afternoon after filling my face and a slump before the tv when everything is done and the day is nearly over.
MelissaLee1 I've never been to midnight mass, but I do watch it on the tv sometimes
MelissaLee1 ,I take it you are Catholic me too, haven't been to Midnight Mass since I lived at home with my siblings
I don't think, our strict Irish Da used to take all 6 of us while our Mum stayed at home as she wasn't a Catholic..
janphoenix51 Yes .I was baptised Anglican but converted at 40 after studying at a Jesuit college and spending some time on retreat. I play guitar in the choir so it's all rather nice. the Christ Mass innit lol?
MelissaLee1 ,yes it's a lovely way to spend the first hour of Christmas Day before you go home to wait Santa's arrival!
MelissaLee1 ,bit like me then!!
I blame the Elf on our shelf,he gets the blame for EVERYTHING around Christmas!! Xx
