Girl, Aged 3, Shoots Herself with Gun as Babysitter Watches Football Game

In the News

How young do kids have to be to get hold of a gun in the US ?

Well this girl was only three years of age and managed to shoot herself in the hand

The idiot babysitter had somehow left a loaded gun in reach of the child and was watching a football match while she played with it

She may lose a finger because of this

What will it take before these morons learn the lesson that their arrogance with gun ownership are killing children ?

Reading between the lines: Firstly I knew it would be a male with the child, secondly he obviously wasn't a babysitter as other people rushed into the room. Unless he was her father it would seem he was just in same room and she probably wandered in.

The thing that makes me livid is that there was a loaded gun just lying around on the sofa and as far as I am concerned every single person in that house is guilty of negligence toward that child. Why would ANYONE leave a gun on a sofa with kids around, sounds like it was a house of crims, addicts, gang members etc. I will be interested in following this up.

Lynibis This doesn't really surprise me L

I believe there are hundreds of thousands households in the US where guns are just left lying around, only responsible owners would lock them away, and from what i have seen and heard there are not many of them around

It's as big a problem there as knife crime is here , and i can never see either will be resolved , at least not in our lifetime

As you say it could be criminals or drug dealers that live there , you hear of cases where children have overdosed on the drugs that were left lying around, so with guns being part of their culture, it shouldn't come as a surprise these type of things happen

stevea808 How people even considering living there is beyond me

Ok we have knife crime which seems to be on the increase , mostly in the london area, but to live in the US with the constant fear of being shot , even by stray bullets would be too stressful for me, and i would fear for my family , especially when at school

And if you say the wrong thing to someone it could be your last

It seems America will never learn where guns are involved. Whoever left a loades gun lying around is a idiot and I hope they are prosecuted.

If the person isn’t a responsible adult he shouldn’t be able to buy a gun!

Point being you can't fire a gun unless there's one to be fired .Keep em out of the home. Thank God the child survived.Someone will have that on their conscience for the rest of their life.
