What Do You Collect As A Hobby?
Ask a Question
Does anyone have a hobby of collecting anything?
For me it’s cups or socks cause of the colours and fun designs!
It used to be watches when I was younger now it's nothing my dad now that's knives, binoculars ,sun glasses, torches my daughters are teddies
I like to collect coins, either foreign currency or those special 50p, £2s etc. I just save them from my change though, i never pay anything more than the currency is worth.
I did buy a charizard card about 10 years ago for like £10 cause it’s something i always wanted as a kid.
slightfoot as a souvenir that sounds lovely how many do you have now?
I use to collect stamps from different countries patents started it lol but stopped many years ago
kitty88uk far far too many to count, lol the fridge is full and the freezer is filling up
slightfoot Nothing. I was going to bid for various items eg VHS Video Recorder (last made in 2013, I think) Dining chairs, magazines. I only look on various items I would like to buy from eBay and go the shops instead. Besides I do not know how eBay operates.
I don't collect anything at all ( would if l knew it would fetch a fortune in years to come) but I'm a minimalist, l don't horde anything that l don't need/use.
Pinkspirit tell me about it! Damn stupid family are hoarders!
So many damn glass jars and dessert pots!
I put in green bin to recycle plastic pots
And to recycle glass too at recycling point
Way too much rubbish!! Argh
kitty88uk oh kitty l know what you mean, my family wash out their jars and yoghurt pots when empty, they have a cupboard full.. l absolutely love tyding up so when l go round theirs l tend to have a declutter and recycle them all ( in recycling bins) as l know they will never get used..as my family are definitely not the jam making kind.
Random bits. I go through phases.my house is a mixture of it all. Nothing goes no theme but it works
I have always collected football cards and stickers since I was a kid, that is one of my hobbies , some of these are now worth a small fortune
martinlufc5637 wow that’s great!!
Will you keep them or sell? Haha bring a collector it’s hard to let go after all these years getting them!
kitty88uk I've been thinking of selling some of them, I have multiple set of some years, the world cup 1970 sticker collection is very rare and valuable and I have 3 of them in like new condition, also with a load of spare stickers, I looked on eBay and some individual sticker are selling for £100+ each, I never stuck them in the albums, just kept as a loose set, I have every football sticker collection ever produced, all world cups, European cups and all English league, I still collect them now
martinlufc5637 omg that’s a lot of money!! Just for one sticker!
Sell them if you don’t need that many helps with buying foods and paying bills
But up to you
jam45 my children will inherit the collection, that was my plan all along, they can then choose what to do with them, I inherited my grandads collection, I didn't sell any of them, I just continued to collect also
martinlufc5637 Thanks for your assurance regarding your family. You all sound like a lovely family who are not money motivated.
jam45 we are the most dysfunctional family ever lol but it works for us, I wouldn't want it any other way
beverleylloyd1 Lmao my mum was the same she had a separate purse just full of damn receipts haha this was years ago
Now we only keep them for the shopping apps to earn rewards
U sued to collect diecast Corgi model buses but havent done so for year now due to cost. Still have quite a few left though.
didbygraham I see cool
I heard that they are worth money?! Yeah hard to continue collecting items nowadays
Mark007 I too love to beach for seashells, can't go to a beach without collecting a few pockets worth
I don't have a specific collection, I collect magnets from places I go tho that's nice and have a small collection of random disney things
Odd thing but my main 2 things I collect are recycling litter and receipts. Incase you are wondering though I'm a wombler. The 2 things I collect are to make money from them and make place's look tidier.
Really Strange one...but I used love collecting soap magazine covers as a kid I wanted to see which soap was on the front cover the most over the years and the evolving storylines ... Good thing I snapped out of it
Nadiaparveen lmao I can’t imagine the piles of magazines you had!! and buying them must have cost a lot of money too!
I used to collect airline sachets when inflight meals were included in the holiday price. This was pre Euro days, I haven’t been abroad for over a decade. When I was younger I worked full time and could afford them then. Some of them went sticky after some years so eventually got rid. I had Dan air, Monarch, Britannia, air 2000 to name a few.
I collect crystals. I favour raw rough crystals. I don't necessarily believe in they healing etc tho. I just think they are pretty.
Glitterandgold oh that sounds nice to have them as like decorations around the house
Bet they have a lot of pretty colours too
As a kid I collect pin on badges... Kept them on display on lengths of ribbons... over the years I have been a collector of various things such as coins, ornaments, mugs, Eternal Beau crockery.... But the only thing that has stuck with me through life is books, I am an avid reader and always have at least 20+ books in my next to read pile... Hello I am Lolly and I am a book addict....xx
