Do you like Hotel Chocolat chocolate, and, if so does it worry you that the chocolate formula will change now that it has been sold, as not many other countries make or like the chocolate formula that we do in the UK?
Cadburys has changed beyond recognition and isn't palatable any longer since it was sold....
I didn't know it'd been sold. It'll probably change. I hope the ice cream doesn't change as its made from jersey milk
Jerseydrew The sale has only just gone through but sadly when takeovers happen they want to make their mark and changes follow...
tumblespots I know just be sad if it changes and the impact on the jersey farmers and dairy
Jerseydrew There is always a detrimental knock on effect that isn't considered when these things happen.
I only go in hotel chocolat to get my birthday treat each year and to be honest I don’t particularly like their chocolate so I give it to my husband.
I have one near me but I just walk past cos I know I'd have no cash left in my pocket to buy my shopping lol. Selling out to Cadburys doesn't sound like a good idea to me.
MelissaLee1 I have never been inside one of their shops as I don't live near one but their chocolate looks delicious on the internet. They sold the business to Mars.
tumblespots I went in once and walked around and out.I am loathe to pay notes for chocolate. My tastes just aren't that refined lol.Even Ferrero are over rated in my book. They look good on the plate but I'd rather have a Peppermint aero or a Fruit and Nut.Oh..Mars! Mars bars and Bounty are nice but somehow very different to how I perceive Hotel Chocolat.
MelissaLee1 Hotel Chocolat has a branch in my town centre and whenever I walk pass it, the shop is almost empty meaning to me no one will pay such a ridiculous price for their chocolates.
(Years ago, British Gas Reward scheme did give me a voucher for a £11.00 box of chocolate ( I think it contained only 6-8 chocolates). The shop had none left and pointed me to their overpriced £15.00 (for about 10 chocolates)!!!
Personally I have never rated their chocolates anyway, don't get me wrong they are nice chocolates just not worth the money they charge for a small box.
Mango4 Similar to me, I don't like to pay too much but they do have some good sales!

Yup, I suspect it will happen. American chocolate is absolutely disgusting, so they're probably used to it and don't think the British market will notice much of a difference. Although, they're maybe not wrong, Cadbury's is a notch or 2 above cooking chocolate nowadays and people still buy it in the millions despite it being a shell of it's former quality.
Insight It's sad, I think we keep buying because we hope it will improve - but it doesn't happen
I've only every tried a sample when passing a shop a few years ago, it was very nice but extremely overpriced in my opinion.
Not keen on Cadbury and American chocolate is vile. I’m a chocoholic though but mostly into plain chocolate so I tend to look for who makes those.
JLouM I think these days plain chocolate is better than the milk chocolate but that could be an age thing for me.
