How Long is Your Lunch Break?
Ask a Question
How long do you get for Lunch at work?
Do you think an hour is too long?
My lunch break is an hour, I spend it at work. It's too long when I spend it on site but If I was to go home then it's too less. I rather have half an hour
SalmaS When I used to have an hour at other jobs, I'd get bored lol. I'd rather have a shorter break and finish early
I’m part time now so don’t get one. When I was full time depending on what I had to do at the time it could be either too long or too short. I do think you should have a proper break though and get out of the workplace. You need fresh air and also people still come to you with work if you stay on site even when you are on break.
My lunch break varies depending on where i work. If i do a long day (14 hours) we get 1hr 15mins which personally i find too long and get bored.
Half shift get 30mins, some places i work we get 45mins for a 12 hour shift.
SamGoodship yes I know years ago the workers decided to finish later and take a shorter lunch to get a fri off I feel iam always rushing my food but it's good getting a fri off
Lunch break at work i think depends on hours you work its a very debatable topic as alot don't get it or most exploited part of the work
Lunch break, what's that? As a nurse I have 30 minutes allocated, I'll have something to eat on a good day, but mostly spend it catching up with records!!
we are flexible - if working full time then must have at least half an hour sometime between 12 and 2pm. I tend to take 45 mins most days but this week have been taking a full hour as I have a bit too much time built up.
Mine is half and hour but I work half hour less .Not time to go out of the building though which I think is what we all really need.
Half an hour not long enough at all by the time you make a cuppa have a sandwich that's it no time to relax
I work part time and I finish at lunch time. Lunch where I look is 50 minutes, but one lunch will be taken up with a department meeting.
I don’t work long enough to have a lunch break but as I work for my daughter I can have mini breaks when I need them as I have arthritis.
I work flexible hours, but we are required to have a minimum of 30 minutes, but if you have longer you can make the time up.
My lunch breaks depend on what shift I'm on. 2 shifts, 5 and 6 hours, I have 15 minutes and 2 shifts, 9 hours, I have 45 minutes.
I get 1 x half hour but because I dont actually take that half hour I normally do a few 10 min outside for the fresh air that Is. I work nights and It gets hot at work. I cant eat at night too.
Half hour on an 8 hour shift. If the shift is 10+ hours we get an hour in breaks and we can choose how we do the break too. We can split into four 15 minutes breaks, two half hours breaks or just one hour break half way through the shift
When working it was 30 minutes between 12 - 2. Due to being in a 'closed' room, we got a fixed time on a rota basis and you clocked out and back in. If you were late your monthly clocking in sheet told you how much to make up. We also clocked into/out of building, lateness was not accepted, even two minutes was deducted.
I don't get one. Just have to grab food when I can I'm only classed as working when with a client and if in office can eat with them
5mins or I eat on the go. I’m self employed and always rushing about and very rarely get time to sit down and eat and relax x
I work 7.30-6pm & get a 30min lunch break. I feel 30mins for lunch with a 10 or 15min break in the afternoon would be better. I workoutside all day in a Farm/Forest School with 2-4 Yr olds.
I have 20 mins as its the minimum I can have and I gain flexi that I accrue to have a day off per month.
