How Long Do You Spend in the Supermarket?

Ask a Question

When you go out food shopping, how long do you spend in the store?

Our last shop ended up being an hour and 1.5 hours yesterday - it's always longer with my daughter in tow!

20 minutes for my weekly shop, 25 if there's a bit of a queue at the till. I don't like supermarkets so I bring a list, everything written in the order of the aisles, and I'm in and out. Then again it's only 2 of us so I don't buy loads

Depends on what we need. A weekly shop usually takes an hour or 1.5 hours just 2 of us. Husband is coeliac so have to be ultra careful with ingredients.

I don't go into supermarkets get everything delivered to me. Do go to local shops like best one, spar and one stop shop. Probably in there 20 mins if that. I miss shops but my Agoraphobia is really bad now since COVID.

SamGoodship I don't do a full shop one place because my family eat different foods daily so I run in get what I need from each shop and the self service is really good in my local shops

I spend about 40 min as the more time you`re In one, the more you will spend. I tend to have some kind of list In my head but I always come out with other things.

I remember spending 25 minutes at the till at Lidl a year or so back. Only one person serving when the shop was full of customers and unfortunately there was a couple of trolleys in front where they were packed full. I don't buy much in Lidl's either a lot of it is too low quality for me and they don't have many of the items I want so I've often only got less than £10's worth of goods. I would say overall I average about 30 minutes, 15 minutes for a quick shop, 45 minutes for a long shop.

I don't like shopping so I tend to be in and out within 20 minutes and if I forgotten something which I usually do I would go to local shop rather go into supermarket again

It depends what I need. If it is a quick top up shop then 10 minutes. If it is a big weekly shop then probably 30-40 minutes.

Much depends how much time I have available and/or who I am with. When I'm on my own I love to wander the aisles with gay abandon and hunt down bargains. My husband when he was alive would have a shopping list and go straight to source .He's be in and out in record time.I like to mooch about the place lol.

Since the start of Covid I do my grocery shopping online. I wish I started earlier. One of my colleagues used to order via Ocado and I thought it lazy but I’ve wised up to it at last.

Haha my family always takes about the same amount of time as my siblings like to look at food items for the best price and size and my mum looks for reduced items too that’s why they take a long time!

My husband and I have the time just to wander around separately and take our time. I usually have to drag him out eventually.
