NECTAR points - Count up to Christmas

Money Saving

YAY - it's happening again this year !!

Just received a notification in my Nectar app about points boost / bonus ahead of Christmas. Have a nosy on your app and activate for free 50 points to start with.

I took part last year and ended up with around £20 of extra points over the promotion, plus the weekly offers! Good to see after the double up was cancelled!

These are personalised to individuals, with boosts completed by making the required number of transactions or purchasing the specified products. The boosts may relate to products purchased within Sainsbury's, or may relate to other Nectar partner brands as detailed in the app dashboard. The boosts will be clearly shown in the app.

I've had a look on my app but can't see anything about points boost, will keep an eye out as an extra 50 points would be most welcome.

MrsCraig hopefully it is for everyone. It ran for a number of weeks last year.

Maybe check if any updates are available for your app too!

FG280 I do all the offers on my nectar in sainsburys extra points for buying my favourites. Always buy things from eBay when they do the 4 x points so if I was buying from currys or Argos I’d buy from their eBay site. I got my house insurance through them and got 8000 bonus points, got the nectar credit card and got bonus points offers and double points for a year. I also have my energy with them on a fixed tariff which was 10000 bonus points and extra points each month then you have the Argos triple points offers and then there is nectar canvas survey site too. All adds up. I bought my sons nursery furniture with all points 4 years ago was £550 - quite obsessive with them 😆

oh just remembered when they did spin to win, I split my shopping into £10 lots and filled our car and the 2 kids cars up £10 a time too think we got about £55 that day!

I also built a pretty big balance, basically using the American Express Nectar Card. But I was disappointed since they removed Expedia from the companies you could use the balance for. I find Nectar very interesting and easy to build a good balance, especially if you take advantage of the weekly offers. On the other hand, it is quite limited in terms of where you can use your balance compared to other reward schemes.

kikogpe I love Argos, Sainsbury's & ebay so its good for me I can get most of what I want there but I just don't like spending them! I also have £212 on Boots Advantage card too 🙈

emmabeckz Yeah, I have a good balance at Boots too. I'm not particularly eager to use my balance either, and I do the same with my coffee rewards. I usually pack 9-10 free coffees before I start using them. The attendants always find it strange 😂

Nectar has British Airways now to use the balance, but all my air miles are on the Virgin Atlantic scheme, so that doesn't make much sense for what I'd like to use either.

emmabeckz thanks for this!! We are due to switch credit cards and nectar is definitely worth considering.

Unfortunately we can't get nectar energy here, but good to know!

FG280 keep an eye as they are now run by eon recently taken over so they may expand the area. All adds up anyway 😊

I haven’t looked at my nectar card since the double up last year as I couldn’t get any regular home deliveries so had to use Ocado but it’s linked to my eBay and I had insurance so got double points. I never look till the end of the year - says I’m -£10.98. How can I be minus? X Looks like my double up was taken out twice?? Image

For those not finding the offer you have to have the latest version of the app. Unfortunately that version is not available for my ipad so I've had to get it on my phone.

I spoke to someone named Rahul on Nectar's Live Chat since I hadn't had the promotion, he told me its invitation only this year and everyone invited will get an email, this sounds like utter nonsense to me; it's more reasonable to assume that if you get a lot of bonus points each week (like myself) then they will skip you.
