The Perfect Age to Have a Baby (According to Data), What Do You Think ?
Ask a Question
Gone are the days when people expected newlyweds to start a family immediately
Now people factor in their careers and finances more , and many wait longer to have children for these and other reasons
The latest data has found the ideal time to start a family is between 23 and 32 years old
What do you think ?
We had our first baby at 18 year old and last one at 44, I wouldn't recommend having a baby after 40 it's hard work lol, all our others were pretty easy but the last one was a struggle
martinlufc5637 It does get harder the older you are M, but one advantage is you can do all you want when younger and then have a child later in life with the satisfaction you have not missed out on these things
There again there is the other way of looking at it , enjoy children why you are young and healthy
You experienced both scenarios
I would have liked to have had one at 32 but it never happened. I had so many financial problems followed by reproductive health issues that I couldn’t have them. Had breakdown over it.
There is no perfect age to have a baby. I was 27, husband 28. It was the right time for us in terms of finances, job stability etc but nothing actually prepared us for when he was born and the work involved.
I had first at 20 and second at 22 and that was my lot. It was more common to marry young back then, I was 2 months off of 18 and it seems scary now! The good side was I was fit and active and already knew a lot about child rearing as my stepmother had 4 during my teens. They were more or less off hand by my late mid 30s and I began a 26 year career which has enabled me to have a pension.
I would say 23-32.. for the first
... just so you have a good few years to enjoy life and not having to get up and do feeds and have sick on your top lol
I had my first child at 22 then turned 23 two days later and I had my last at 32 so I fit in pretty well with the data.
I had 1st at 31 and was considered an old mother and my notes had a large red circle around age. The 2nd at 34 and everything was in large red writing. Would I do it again or later age - no.
I was 32 and it was the perfect age for me. I'd stopped going out as much, and had a decent salary.
I worked for a charity at the time so got Statutory Maternity Pay for 8 months. I had to save a huge chunk of my salary to top it up.
Well it’s hard to say when the perfect age is really because there’s so many factors. Health wise the age rage makes sense but it’s hard to have a stable life in your 20s sometimes
I had my first at 19 which was a little early and my second at 22 which I found easier, I'd say 23 - 32 is a good range, I'm in my mid 30s now and health isn't as good as it was so glad I had mine younger as I couldn't imagine having a baby now, certainly wouldn't cope as well as I did. But everyone's lifestyle is different.
I had my first (and last!) at 38. I do regret not having a child earlier as being an older parent is really exhausting, especially as we don’t have childcare help from family to give us a break.
