Artificial for us. Love the smell of a real one, but can't be doing with picking needles out of my feet for months after

TheChimp I like that with artificial you are only buying once and it will last you for years and years too.

Prefer real. We had as children and very Christmassy. As working adult artificial because don’t have to look after, water, sand etc. I might get a dinky real one this year though if I can find a reasonable price.

Used to be always real ones for me but some of the fake ones are so good these days that I have now conceded to one. I usually have a small real one as well though.

MelissaLee1 I grew up only have fake ones so I've mostly stuck to them. We got a very small real one from Tesco last year but it was annoying cleaning up the needles lol.

Love the smell of real Christmas trees but I gave in a few years ago and bought an artificial one. Last year I didn’t put the tree up as I made large a rather large fireplace garland with lights and the tree would be too much.

HEDGEHOGS That's awesome, I'm tempted to not bother much this year and wait for sales in the new year for next year 😂

We have a fake one. Much cheaper and lasts for ages so no need to be paying out for a new one every year.

Artificial for us, can't do with pine needles all over the place, plus you don't have to buy one every year, we've had ours years, still looks like new

We have an artificial which we have used in the past but this year as we are away we have decorated our very large outside real Christmas tree with solar lights and that’s us done.

Much as I like real trees , they simply don;t last , our main tree is therefore a large artificial tree , we will also have a small potted live mini tree that we will buy from somewhere like Morrisons or Tesco closer to Christmas

We've always had an artificial one. Last year we didn't bother at all, we had an awkward place that there wasn't much room for one and it was annoying most years, plus I was too ill to care haha.

I didn't like the thought of a real one because of the needles, fire hazard, the up keep and care etc, but then I heard about growing them in pots and not chopping them down, which I loved the idea... but over the last few years I've got major allergies from what seemed like nowhere and a real tree wouldn't be a pleasant experience. So looking for a nice plump secondhand artificial one, now we've moved into a place with more space for a decent size one and hopefully we will be here for many years yet.

I’ve always loved a real tree but the ones these days smell a lot less and so I don’t think it’s worth getting one anymore
