charcowe I worked at the post office (in the sorting department) years ago and if I remembered correctly, the business customers had to pay for each "steps" or "floors" it took the postman to reach them and delivered their mail. I don't know if this still exists today.

The mail deliveries in my area are shocking and have been for quite some time, my neighbours even go to pick their mail up from the sorting office, they need to up their game and fast.

One of the big challenges is you cannot track parcels on the journey as you can with many other courier or delivery services , i was also told by an employee that they had invested heavily in Electric Vans that were proving sadly not fit for purpose

BernardPlume even if you can track them the information is usually inaccurate or late.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having problems with lack of delivery of items I've bought. I do tend to buy for sellers or retailers that use different courier services.

They are appalling at the moment.I can't believe they have the cheek to keep upping their prices with the service they're providing

The post has been getting worse.

Daily mail comes later and later until this week. Instead of coming around 2pm it is now around 10.30am.

However the delivery of parcels is shocking.

I was notified that I would get delivery by Tuesday via RM. It came the next day although I did get a text early in the morning.

We used to get a second post. Frequently disappointed but the odd surprise did raise a smile - oh how I miss them days!!!

I get no post for 4or 5 days then I get a pile all at once, if you are waiting for appointments or greeting cards good luck with that, I recently had a Birthday and my cards did not arrive on time even though first class post, my friends were not happy at all, it did spoil my day as it was a special Birthday, so THANKS ROYAL MAIL your service stinks.

As a postman we are told to deliver tracked items over letters across 2-3 rounds as there is a lack of staff because so many loyal posties have left under this management. That is where the money is apparently. Managers get a bonus on the tracked items and don't give 2 hoots about little Harry's birthday card or Ethel's important NHS letter. Us posties have a conscience and in our small office if some family has birthday cards or NHS letters we will deliver them. I have this in loads of text messages as proof. Don't blame your postie. Bad management.

mhobbs1 so is it bad management that refuses to climb stairs and deliver correctly to individual flats? Is it bad management that don't bother ringing the flats intercoms to inform them post has arrived? Putting people's mail at risk by just dumping it at the main front door at risk of theft or damage.

Royal Mail has gone dreadful, from trying to post a parcel in the post office, where you face long queues everytime, to the deliveries that are random and only turn up every few days if your lucky. If parcels get returned to the sorting office now, it s struggle to get them as our local office is open 08.00am - 10.30am Mon - Fri and 08:00am - 12.00pm Saturday only. They used to be open all day and I could collect after work around 4.30pm but not now I have just a Saturday morning that I can get to them

Normally very good but past week or two, later delivery and the items I have sent 48 hours tracked are taking four days, one to the other side of Preston to me, could have walked there quicker! Such a shame ,postie's in family history..

They need to have the royal charter taken away from them and any grant given by our government, they will then very quickly need to sink or swim to survive

2nd class seems like a 30 day service at the moment. Both myself and my mother ordered a sim from RWG mobile and in both cases it took about a month and was only delivered once we queried the delay. They use the 2nd class service to ship sims.

I missed a parcel delivery last Friday. They put a card through my door saying that they would deliver it on Saturday. I stayed in all day but the parcel didn't come. As it hadn't arrived by Tuesday I rang the Royal Mail to complain. I was told they would look into it and let me know what what was going on. I haven't heard any more from them and I still don't have my parcel!

fmsangster64 I placed an order on Amazon who decided Royal Mail would deliver my parcel the next day. As this was on a Sunday RM would deliver on Monday. On Monday morning there was a card through my letterbox which said they tried to deliver but no one was home. I have a ring doorbell and they didn't ring and I missed my delivery by 10 mins. Tuesday an email from Amazon said my delivery time would be 7.35 - 11.45am. By 12.05pm a text came letting me know my delivery was delayed and would arrive the next day. I tried calling the number given by Amazon for RM and when I got through an automated message said sorry for the delay and as the lines were so busy I could be waiting over an hour or so on the line. Then I saw a RM van turn up an hour later with my delivery at the door. They don't know if there coming or going which is a joke. Funny thing is I could have collected my order as the sorting office is only a 10 minute walk from my house.

charcowe I've just had a letter delivered this morning. When i've opened the letter it was dated the 11th of October. This isn't good enough and i'm also waiting for a replacement debit card which I ordered a week ago from Barclays. When I contacted Barclays I had two options 1, I could pay £1.99 to get my card quickly or 2, just normal post. I went for the 2nd option as i'm shocked you have to pay to get your card quicker. 😬

I've lived here 25 and had nothing but problems. Parcels going missing, being delivered to wrong addresses, parcels being left on the door step in full view of the public consequently being stolen. I have asked for parcels to be delivered to a post office and held there only to come home and find it's been thrown over my fence. I've told my local office many time to keep my parcels and I will collect. This past weekend I had a card saying I missed two parcels. I go to collect, get handed one, they have no idea where the second one is.
