Looking for some sandwich recipes!
MelissaLee1 oh raw onion?! Not had that before
But do have coleslaw with ham haha haven’t had that in a while
MelissaLee1 I put coleslaw too with ham and some lettuce haha
Haven’t had coleslaw in a while!
It’s good to have different sandwich recipes
Lettuce, tomato, cucumber, corned beef and sweet corn relish on whole meal bread. Works for me
Peanut butter and blackcurrant jam is good for a snack.
But for a proper lunch I like chicken and salad.
Or ham, cream cheese and pickle.
snoogans888 Nevwr heard of peanut butter with blackcurrant jam
Tried strawberry jam was meh
Like it didn’t taste right lol
Usually cheese, sometimes with pickle if I have any in.
My favourite though Is Pastrami, with Gherkins or sauerkraut.
blacklabrador Sounds so delicious great to try out new sandwiches recipes! Thanks for sharing yours!
Just plain old cheese and pickle onions or tuna and sweetcorn that's all I have on sandwiches
I often have sandwiches based on what I've found as a short life reduction. Often Iceland have their pot of Coronation Chicken half price in my local store and often you come across cheap ham or chicken slices. Favourite sandwiches are probably something like ham with salad and some mayonnaise too.
BonzoBanana Yeah we do the same too! We buy a lot of ham when the prices are reduced haha
Yeah nothing but a good sandwich filling of ham salad and mayonnaise simple yet yummy
Cheese & Onion with malt vinegar and English mustard or for a toasted sandwich I like Cheese & Chives. Extra strong vintage cheese now, not the mild one which tastes of nothing.
I tend to go for egg mayo. I quite like salad in it. Egg and cress is nice. Cheese spread with cucumber is nice so is cheese spread with roast veg
I love any cold meats on my sarnies left over from my roasts, other than than it would be ham salad or tuna and mayo.
I absolutely love sliced avocado and tomatoes drizzled with olive oil, melt in the mouth and takes me back to a trip to Italy
Pinkspirit omg that sounds delicious
Yeah I have avocados too! Not tried olive oil
Haha we have so many tomatoes in the fridge right now!
As for avocados they are either so hard or they get so mushy and turn black!
My favourite is a knock off of the supermarket cheese and onion ones. Grated cheese with grated or finely chopped onion mixed in mayonnaise. But I also like egg or tuna mayo sandwiches.
This isn’t my favourite recipe for a sandwich but I’m curious if anyone has tried “peanut butter and jelly sandwiches”? They sound awful but sometimes you can be pleasantly surprised by how good thing’s taste when you wasn’t expecting them to .
petekid1952 well this is an American thing and they call jam jelly. I can see the appeal of jam and peanut butter but have never tried it. But sweet and savoury often go well together e.g. Pate and sweet chutney, Apple sauce with pork, cranberry with Turkey and as a kid I loved cheese and jam sarnies.
Lynibis actually I was pleasantly surprised recently by chocolates with sea salt . It was a gift and I hadn’t tried it . I had left it in cup for a while so thought I’d try it and it was tasty . Not something I would have thought of buying myself but I might do so now .
When your feeling lazy or want something whilst watching the unmissable film my go to is Egg mayo and cress. This could be accompanied by crisps or just complemented with a large mug of tea. Keeping a stock of hard boiled eggs ready for preparation is prudent catering.
Afraid I’m a bit boring with sandwiches, don’t like cheese onion peanut butter any sauces or pickles. Got to be really fresh bread with egg & cress p, tuna & sweetcorn or nice ham with a few plain crisps. I also hate toast made with brown bread
I really enjoy a cheese and onion sandwich on hovis seed sensation seven seed bread. The bread is £2 but really nice.
I only ever eat plain cheese with a spread from the shops .. but I don't mind chicken or peanut butter if I was at home.
Maybe you can try swapping the base spreads like boots put soft cheese instead of margarine/butter in one of their sandwiches.. a Yemenis lad once made soft cheese mixed with chopped hard boiled eggs. You can try different jam spreads.. different meats or even veggie alternatives. Do you have the tuna filling with sweetcorn? If not you can add that
Leicester cheese and onion, chicken or turkey and onion or watercress with a sprinkle of salt
My favourite sandwich is tuna in tomato sauce (no butter or margarine) and sliced cucumber, shredded lettuce in a wholemeal bap or bread.
kitty88uk ...You don't need butter as the Tomato Sauce spreads over the bread, same with Beans or Spaghetti on Toast...
Less calories!
janphoenix51 that’s true haha but bread especially toasted tastes more delicious with butter
FionaCrowe oh wow that sounds delicious I haven’t had a smoked salmon with lettuce sandwiches in a while!
Find that it’s kind of salty lol so I also add cucumbers tomatoes and sliced avocados too! Yum
kitty88uk you don't need much salmon because of the salt, so it works out cheaper to load it with veggies (I LOVE loads of crisp baby spinach) and a generous spread of cream cheese. I get smoked salmon trimmings from Asda and shops own basic range cream cheese.
I've made this for die hard philadelphia fans and noone has mentioned it tastes any different!!
Egg mayo or egg salad cream with cress is super tasty but honestly I've had alot of cheese and lettuce sandwiches not exotic but tasty
Marmite Peanut Butter and sliced Bananas. To spice it up a bit I often spread some Wiltshire Farms Firemite which is a hot chilli yeast spread.
