As he has a younger brother try and keep it going for this Christmas so as not to spoil things for the younger one. I was 10 when I twigged and mum just replied what do you think? I said I don’t think real and she confirmed I was right. I had an older sister though so a bit different.

Imnotcheap The thing was it was like it all ends. Mum said no it’s me and dad but you can still have a stocking! We had one until we were 21! 🤣. More little presents than actual stocking though. My sister who when her children were little put all their presents in a sack.

If you can keep it up then I would different for me when my daughter asked me at 6 or 7 she was, I asked does she want the truth she said yes so I told her but I didn't have my youngest then if I did I'd probably try and keep it up

Of course he is real, he is in your heart.

Even when my younger brother said he knew he wasn't real, I still made sure we put out a treat, a drink and something for the reindeers! haha. I apparently figured it out and ruined it for my older sister without even realising 😬

In a sense he is real though, he is the magic of Christmas.

It is hard to say when to explain it. As you don't want them being in the unknown with their peers at school or friends but then you want to keep it as magical as possible for as long. If their brother believes, can you explain it when his brother isn't around, could you 'get him in on it' by help choosing a small gift FROM Santa for his brother or giving him a special job to help him feel included but not want to share his new found knowledge?

DeBunny I never have given presents from Santa. I agree there is a Santa it's me. I love tracking santa on Christmas eve too, my eldest did this after she knew there wasn't a Santa. Yes I dont want him feeling silly at school bring the only believer. When I was in high school the lady over the road kindly wrote a letter to santa in Asda from me when she did one with her daughter I knew nothing about it and one of the boys from my class seen it, the whole class knew next day,😭🤬🤯

Personally I would say Santa Claus was real , ok he is long gone but his spirit is still there on Christmas Eve and he gets the parents to deliver for him now

Then tell them the history

What is the true story behind Santa Claus?

Santa Claus: Real Origins & Legend | HISTORY

The legend of Santa Claus can be traced back hundreds of years to a monk named St. Nicholas. It is believed that Nicholas was born sometime around A.D. 280 in Patara, near Myra in modern-day Turkey. Much admired for his piety and kindness, St. Nicholas became the subject of many legends.Etc

The nicest explanation is that there is not only one Santa, everyone is Santa who does good things for others. When children get suspicious then you have to let them in on the secret ........worked for us

I think keeping the idea alive keeps them both excited and dubious. Obviously kids talk amongst each other, at school and out playing. All it takes is 1 person who has had it spoiled for them to spoil it for everybody else. It helps if you think of a story upfront for when the inevitable happens, to keep them in suspense just a little longer. Gets them to bed earlier on xmas eve, so you get to bed earlier on xmas eve. It seems like your head just hits the pillow, when the kids start calling you to see what Santas left them. Ho ho ho.

nadinegregg70 mine don't wake up early on Christmas just usual. His best friend still believes so that's easier but one of his friends has 9 siblings and step siblings so has probably been told by older ones

I would just say that some people believe he is and some don't. Either way, it's OK to believe what makes you happy 😀
