Not Schweppes but Sainsbury's do their own which is identical and only 80p and I love my bitter lemon!

emmabeckz brave girl........I can't stand bitter lemon, the thought of drinking it makes me shudder, but then I don't like tonic either. Do you drink it alone or with gin...or both?

Lynibis Just on its own I can't drink alcohol any more - it just reminds me of my Nana who had it and at Christmas I have to buy Canada Dry ginger too - do you remember peppermint cordial? 😆

emmabeckz I do, and I quite like that. I don't drink either, unless you count an occasional Bailey's in my coffee!😊

emmabeckz We used to have a shot of peppermint cordial in the pub after drinking too many shorts too early and getting heartburn. It was always on the house 😃

emmabeckz Yep, I've heard of rum and pep.

One of the 1st things that I was sick on was rum and black. That wasn't very pleasant.

Back in the day it was all cordial with your shot of choice. Vodka and orange wasn't with OJ, but a big dash of neat squash.

TheChimp I was sick on Midori - thought I was so sophisticated drinking Japanese melon schnapps - well you can imagine the colour.... 😆

emmabeckz I've never tried Midori, but always fancied it.

Can you imagine puking up rum and blackcurrant when you're a young teenager? You think that you've got a massive stomach bleed 🤣 And don't talk to me about the hangover.

There was no thing as spiced rum back then.

emmabeckz I have a more modest collection of 40ish bottles now. Never been a vodka drinker funnily enough lol

wow peppermint cordial that brings back memories! I used to drink it right out of the bottle (neat) but then I was a bit odd and usually drank most squash neat when I could get away with it. Wouldnt do that now, although come to think of it that's probably why I usually drink my gin neat - I do prefer strong flavours!

didbygraham when I was 2 my mum went outside to put the washing on the line and I shut the door behind her and drank half a bottle of neat Ribena while she watched me through the window trying to persuade me to open the door 🤣

That peppermint cordial was super strong made my eyes water when you opened the bottle! I’m sure you can still get it now but most probably not the same

Funny you should mention this. A while ago I was looking in Waitrose for it and could not find it. My daughter sells it in her pub, not sure it’s the slimline version, I will check next time I’m in.
