I wouldn’t gift makeup anyway unless you know exact shades. My best secret Santa gift was gloves, in fact they’re leather.

Scented candle, a scarf, a Christmas ornament, a book, a long water bottle (they do cute animal ones), a shawl, a bottle of wine, nice handsoap, a crafts set etc... It's easier for a woman than for a man I reckon.

G0501 yes its much easier for a woman one doesn't drink and think only 1 of them likes wine 1 of them doesn't like getting candles she said it should be something for her 🙈 they all complain about something honestly 🙉 might be better getting a scarf and gloves I normally buy a candle burner ,or make a wee hamper up with toiletries

I would get a gift voucher for somewhere. If you aren't sure exactly what to get them then a gift voucher means they can get something themselves. I hated secret Santa at my work. I always got something that I wouldn't use and had to regift so I felt like the person had wasted their money. Wish they had just given me the money. That might sound ungrateful but I genuinely felt that they were wasting their money on me.

MrsCraig a gift voucher sounds great but it has to be a gift and everyone likes different things wish it was just the one person I was to buy for thanks for commenting 😊

kate1310 ah that makes it harder then. I always ended up asking the person I had for Secret Santa what they wanted so I knew they got something they wanted. There was only one year that I got something I actually wanted.

MrsCraig I know it a rotten way to do it I would rather buy for the one person hate giving the same things out every year as they all like different things so never know what to get 🙃

A five pound and ten pound note would be the best gift, I have always found them very useful and well received.

with secret santa you should have the name of the person you are buying for so you should know what they like and don't..

Bargainhead I was thinking the same thing! Otherwise you’ve got an impossible task of trying to find an appropriate gift (and Secret Santa is hard enough as it is!).

Bargainhead we don't we all just buy something put a raffle ticket on it then put the others in a bag and you pick one out it would be much better if we did have the name of the person

kate1310 but that way you could end up with your own present, so buy something you like and hope for the best.

secret santa normally is names in hat and everyone pulls name out and keeps secret..

Bargainhead exactly, each person is a secret Santa and buys for the name they are given. The recipient never knows who the giver is and that is the fun of it.

Bargainhead I know it is they just do it differently no if you pick out your own gift you swap it with someone else

Lynibis it would be a lot easier if I knew the person I was buying for the way they do it is a lot harder and yiu can't please everyone I normally buy candle burners or make up a wee hamper with bath bombs, face masks, small bottle wine a wee pamper night

kate1310 I suppose one good thing is that you don't have men in the mix. Maybe next year you could suggest doing secret Santa the correct way as it seems the organiser doesn't know how it works.

When I was working in an office it was £5 maximum and wasn't taken too seriously, I got a plastic banana holder one year! Another year it was a bottle of wine and I don't drink the stuff lol.

earrings, art set, chocolate, plants/flowers, xmas decoration for the tree a nice one. You can just politely ask for a list and then pick from the list. That is what a lot of people do so she knows it is something she wants but doesn't know what!

kate1310 I would stick with a book/book voucher.... can't go too wrong with Waterstones/Dauntes books etc

Like

kate1310 it its a bit silly this way as now it has to be very neutral/ can't be too specific as it may not be to this random persons choice, may already have this item etc, not suitable etc

Something personalised is always nice, then you know they can not re-gift it. Try not on the high street site.

Get some Christmas Gonks or nice baubles then it won't matter if they don't drink/eat chocolate/wear make-up.

Secret santa usually operates by knowing who you are buying for but not saying who it comes from. It seems yours must be a free for all so you should bear in mind that you may be given it yourself!
