Walkers Renames Popular Monster Munch Flavour Sparking Fan Outcry
- Flavour Update: Walkers has renamed its Flamin' Hot Monster Munch to Sweet and Spicy Flamin' Hot.
- Fan Reaction: Loyal customers express dissatisfaction, noting the original flavour was superior.
- Product Evolution: The change is part of the brand's ongoing updates to its snack lineup.
In a recent reveal that has stirred up its fan base, Walkers has confirmed a significant change to one of its most cherished snack flavours. The beloved Flamin’ Hot Monster Munch has undergone a transformation and is now being marketed under the new name "Sweet and Spicy Flamin’ Hot." This modification has left many loyalists longing for the original, sparking a wave of nostalgia and disappointment among the snack's aficionados.
Ethan Singh from The Sun first reported the shift, highlighting the impact on fans who have taken to social media platforms to voice their concerns. One dismayed fan expressed their frustration, lamenting the absence of the classic Flamin' Hot flavour and its incomparable taste compared to the new variant.
Since acquiring Monster Munch in 1995, Walkers has experimented with various flavours including Roast Beef, Pickled Onion, and Saucy variants, with Flamin' Hot emerging as a top favourite. Despite the alteration, Walkers remains optimistic about the rebranding, stating, "We have given them a facelift! They are now called Sweet and Spicy Flamin’ Hot. We’ll be sure to pass your comments over to the wider team."
The change comes amidst other flavour discontinuations and introductions by Walkers, including the phasing out of Salt & Vinegar Quavers and the launch of an Extra Flamin’ Hot variant aimed at offering an "elevated snacking experience." Rob Pothier, senior marketing manager for Doritos at Walkers, shared, "We’re turning up the heat with this launch. We’re sure this new flavour experience will keep shoppers coming back for more."
Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, commented, "While change can be refreshing and necessary for brands to stay relevant, it’s clear that the original Flamin’ Hot Monster Munch holds a special place in the hearts of many. Walkers will need to balance innovation with tradition to satisfy their diverse customer base."
Why do well known companies like Walkers etc have to always change well liked flavours ? It frustrates everyone especially people who love the original taste and then bang its no longer available as they’ve decided to change it. I know companies have to evolve and change but please ask your customers what they want. At end of day they are the 1s buying these items
