How Do You Stop Teenagers Carrying Knives?

In the News

How do you stop teenagers carrying knives? A young boy was killed last week by a 16 year old in my hometown and now reports of another one but don’t know any details of that one yet. There’s hardly any policing these days so who on earth will want to visit town centres any more?

Give them an automatic 5 years in prison for carrying, some of them might think twice, there is no punishment, if your caught with a knife they take it off them , arrest them, then an hour later slap them on the wrist

martinlufc5637 it can be shocking, I remember supporting a guy for work who had a pending conviction for robbery at knife point and he was out for over a year. During that year he committed a bunch more crimes.

jms19 the police has lost control of it, it's happening all over the UK, I live in a small ex mining town, there has been 6 stabbings this year, things like this never use to happen here, crime and antisocial behaviour is out of control here, all our local police stations have closed, the nearest police station is 15 mile's away!!!

martinlufc5637 same where i live, they close the station in town but kept a police station in a much more affluent area where there is less crime.

No matter what it's not gonna stop them they think it's good to be able to defend themselves or scare people what's scary is there getting younger and younger they have no fear

It's awful isn't it 🥺 somehow they need to find the root cause. I heard a lot has to do with postcode gang wars. There needs to be more youth leisure centres.

Education, knife amnesty's and tougher prison sentences for those who commit crime. It would be well worth talking to teenagers and see what they think as their the ones living through these issues.

There's only one reason to carry protection and that's for self-defense, not to harm others. However, they're not doing for self-defense, it's to harm others.

The U.K. has a lot of problems and the current government seems unable to handle or even care to. Labor? They wouldn't do a better job either, the so-called "Conservatives" are no different than Labor.

PhilipMarc I agree with you 100% regarding the government - past, present and future. Neither the Conservatives or Labour has a solution to this terrifying problem. I disagree with you regarding carrying a knife. No excuse for owning one. Totally wrong.

They need street cctv cameras that use thermal imaging , a knife could be viewed through clothing this way with the heat differential and confiscated and the person prosecuted

But this could only work at night and i expect the cost would be too much anyway , regardless of the cost of loss of life

The other problem is the laws here are too soft

This type of thing never happens in stricter countries like Saudi, they know what the repercussions would be

If they hack of your hand for stealing imagine what they would do if found carrying a knife

Very extreme punishments , but the streets are safe for kids and families
