Stop Oil Protesters Disrupt Les Miserables Performance

In the News

I have been really surprised at the number of people who supported this action, especially a cast member who tweeted their support.

When i look back over the protests they have nearly all caused distress, chaos and terrible inconvenience to the 'common man'. Why? What can we do about it? It would be impossible for us ordinary folk to suddenly bring all our cars to a halt, turn off oil fired heating etc. Can you imagine the resulting devastation?

If these people had a brain between them could they not think of more intelligent ways of getting their point across to those who can actually do something about it? Vandalising property, throwing paint over priceless paintings does not garner public support, nor does punishing those least able to do anything about the problem.

The protesters get publicity for their cause so they will continue disrupting anything to get themselves heard.

Leannexxx Good for you, who knows what people need their milk for. Maybe babies. Were they vegetarians or stop oil? I was thinking about trying these oat milks etc until I read that they are a slurry of oil and oats and that put me right off! I may not agree with how we treat animals but Milk is not bad for us, it is good for us and has been a staple for as long as there have been cows.

Unfortunately our population in UK and all over the world is now so high that if we want to continue to feed, clothe, care for, educate and house everyone we need to use more planet killers, not less. When will people realise that if the population were halved the problems would also be halved and yet not one government is brave enough to start the discussion. B****r human rights, the right to have dozens of kids should not trump our right to survive on a sustainable planet.

Lynibis they was vegans and it was for my little one so no one was gonna stop me from getting it 😂 and I understand where you coming from we have 2 children 10 years apart and I'm done now but there's some out there that just keep dropping kids they won't think about the impact but at the same time it's been happening for years my other half is one of 9 and I'm one of 6 so for big I didn't want a big family

If they didn’t take such drastic action no one would take notice. Obviously it’s inconvenient but it will be a lot more inconvenient when we have damaged the planet way further.

Now i agree with you when you say what can we do, but i think the majority of us (myself

Included) could do more.

jms19 I am a Libran, the scales, and I can always see both sides of an argument. I agree in principal with what they are trying to do but I cannot imagine how we can exist if the clock is turned back over 100 years to a time of no vehicles on the road, no way of fueling any sort of transport for goods etc. I have long thought they should open up our canals and transport as much as possible, but every mode of transport needs some sort of fuel.

We have more than double the population of back then and the bigger picture is that there would no longer be supermarkets as food would not be so easily available, people would not be able to get to work, hospitals, etc. Can we really go back to a time of walking all day to visit a relative, or work the fields without the fuel burning machinery. Not fly abroad, not sail in big ships. I sometimes think that the end of life as we know it is inevitable and try as we may there is nothing we can do about it as no one, even the protesters, would not be able to function if we did all that is required to reverse things.

Lynibis see I agree that the idea we can stop everything is ridiculous but at the same time everyone could be doing a lot more to minimise their carbon footprint. Problem with these protests is they seem to be just annoying people more than anything

If I had been in the audience I would have been furious. The tickets are expensive and it would have been a treat night that was spoiled. I get that they are passionate about the cause but don't ruin a perfectly good experience for many
