Is There Such a Thing as an Easy to Put on Duvet Cover

Other

Recently I helped my heavily pregnant granddaughter to put her quilt cover on while her hubby was at work and it was a doddle with two of us.

However being old and single I struggle every time and I dread duvet changing day.

I am seriously thinking of going back to old fashioned sheets and blankets to save the the hard work but even though I have searched online not sure how to phrase it. Anyone? I can't be the only older person who has trouble with this.

First off, turn your cover Inside out. Secondly, lay your duvet half way on the bed. Then put just two ends Inside the cover and roll the cover and duvet down the bed. When you reach the end, throw It upwards on the bed and It will be the right side up and not Inside out. Hope that makes sense. Hard to explain through a keyboard. Sometimes Its easier If you cut the seams on both edges like an opening so you can get your hands In to put them In the corners when your done. That way will need stitching so It does not fray.

I just found a video

Emerge11 very good of you but as I said there is just one of me and I am not very supple, it took two of them on that video lol.

Lynibis That’s the first thing I noticed, it was two people doing it. My mother now needs help with hers so my daughter goes over to help.

Turn it inside out get the corners and the middle at the same time and flip it's over and skate it down I do mine on my own but to be fair that's only because I've done housekeeping

Leannexxx that's what I did this afternoon but it's still a faff as I have to let go to pull it down as it never just flows down evenly. Then when you let go of top corners you have to try and get it in bottom corners. It just exhausts me lol.

Lynibis I have the same problem as you. I struggle to put on the duvet cover as my arms ache. It takes me longer to do, when it only used to take me 10 minutes. I have the same problem while putting my washing on the line.

A friend of mine finds it rather difficult to change her king size duvet cover so uses a sheet under the duvet. So she can just put a fresh sheet on and the duvet goes back on top, simple.

I know where your coming from and don't think there's any easy way to be honest, we use a top sheet so don't need to wash the duvet cover each week. My daughter has one of these wasable duvets and that works for her, ok in the warmer months but then it's the drying during the colder/wetter months.

I turn my covers inside out and then try to make sure the corners match with corners of the duvet and then somehow I begin to jiggle the duvet cover across lol .. its easier if you have a single size

I think an easy way is to pop the 2 corners of the duvet in the cover corners then clip both sides with big food bag clips. The duvet should stay in place at the top as you manoeuvre the cover into position/remove the clips 😃

Look on Amazon for a “coverless duvet” it’s a duvet with the sheet sewn in so you put the whole duvet in the machine. It’s a godsend!!!! No more changing duvet covers xx
