What's the Most Creative Christmas Present You've given or Received?
Ask a Question
One Christmas, my friend surprised me with a gift that blended creativity and personal touch in a truly memorable way. It was a custom-made "Adventure Box." The box was filled with a series of envelopes, each containing a unique experience or activity for us to enjoy together throughout the year.
From tickets to a live show and vouchers for a cooking class to handwritten notes suggesting spontaneous road trips, the Adventure Box was a treasure trove of shared moments waiting to unfold. The thoughtfulness behind the gift not only showcased creativity but also demonstrated a keen understanding of our shared interests and the value of creating lasting memories.
On the flip side, the most creative Christmas present I've given was a DIY "Open When" letter set for my sister. I crafted a series of letters and labelled them with instructions like "Open when you're happy," "Open when you're feeling down," and so on. Each envelope contained a heartfelt letter, a small trinket, or a funny drawing—designed to be opened at specific moments in her life.
These experiences have taught me that the essence of a truly creative Christmas gift lies in the ability to tailor it to the recipient's personality, interests, and emotions. It's about creating a lasting impact through thoughtful gestures that extend beyond the holiday season.
Both examples you give are amazing gifts to give and receive. My granddaughter is the best family member who gets me gifts that shows how well she knows me. A subscription to an expensive history magazine I really appreciated as she knows how passionate I am about the subject. I often visit my sister who lives a 3 hour drive away and gd got me a Blenheim palace day out for us both to share when I next visited. We had a lovely day and it included a lovely lunch in Woodstock.
I always get random stuff tbh, a book on clouds, an ostrich egg. Who knows what i’ll get this year
