What's Your Opinion on the Wuka Period Pants Advert?

Ask a Question

Have you seen it?

I'm sorry, but I really don't like it. It came on (🙄) the other day when I was having my tea, and I had to stop eating.

Is there any need for it to be so graphic? How it was passed by the ASA after complaints, I don't know.

What do you guys think?

Agree 100% they sicken me and I am female! No one accounts for embarrassment factor anymore as no subject is taboo..........people sitting on the loo, taking drugs to be intimate, bottoms on show for loo paper, it goes on and on and I don't want to see it, especially in mixed company!

I totally agree with you and we've noticed some of these ads coming on as we're having our tea 🙈.

Yes I hate it. It’s unnecessary to be sitting on the loo for an ad.

I guess they feel that these sort of things should not be taboo. I don’t know how i feel personally

jms19 There's taboo and there's just going out to offend people. They knew what they were doing when they made the advert and what the response would be

Doesn't bother me to be honest. The fact people are talking about it means that the company has gotten what they wanted. Ads like that don't bother me, they never have.

MrsCraig There hasn't been an advert like it before and I think that it's gone too far

TheChimp it won't be for everyone, like lots of ads. I think they have tried to make it as realistic as possible. Its not actually real blood that has been used. It might have gone too far, but sometimes that is the point of the ad.

I don't recall seeing this advert so don't really understand what it is. But then to be fair I don't pay attention to the TV especially adverts. I tend to switch off

EDIT: just noticed I did not read the title properly either.

At the end of the day periods are a fact of life and I’m a endometriosis sufferer (which took till I was in my early 40s to be diagnosed following the constant fobbing off by the GPs over the years due to the slack attitude to periods) and I’m shocked how many people still don’t want to acknowledge or understand women’s health issues, I’m no feminist but come on it’s an advert and if it gets people talking about periods then that’s a good thing. We are still dealing with people saying “that’s women’s problems” and continuing to suffer in silence with it.

The menopause is finally getting some traction so hopefully periods will to. sadly women don’t choose to how their bodies work. I gladly would have been born a man and not have to deal with the blood and pain each month and not having days off school or using annual leave to cover days when my period fell on a weekday because I can’t have time off sick because it’s “just your period” and because all women’s are different doesn’t help.

If society didn’t have this old fashioned mentality then the contents of of ad wouldn’t even come up. Times have got to change!

www.asa.org.uk/make-a-complaint.html

maybe instead of moaning we should complain to relevant advertising body. When things are not complained about it is supposed that we are ok with them 'Oh but we haven't had any complaints ' so nothing changes. Keeping things private does not mean they are taboo but there is a time and place and it is not in my front room, on my tv when I have company, especially male.

Not sure why we even need to advertise loo roll or STs but I'm not in the least bit squeamish these days .I've seen too much to cower at a bit of blood or poo lol.
