Hidden Disabilities – Helping You Shop In-Store

We're a Sunflower member

If you’re wearing a Sunflower lanyard, our colleagues will understand that you have a hidden disability and that you may need a little extra help or time. However, they won't know what your particular disability is, or what challenges you may face. If you have specific requirements, please ask one of our colleagues for help.

How to get a Sunflower lanyard

Free Sunflower lanyards are available to customers with a hidden disability. Ask at the customer service desk in larger stores, or at the checkout in smaller ones*. You don’t need to provide proof of a disability.

Tesco Access Guides

We've worked with AccessAble to create Access Guides for all 2600+ of our UK stores – from large Extras and petrol stations to your local Express. We're updating the guides all the time to make sure they're as accurate as possible.

Changing Places toilets

We now have 100 stores across the UK which have Changing Places toilets. These are larger than a normal disabled toilet and include a changing bench, hoist and privacy screen.

Simple and easy refueling for disabled drivers

689 of our fuel sites are now on the fuelService app, helping disabled drivers find and get assistance with refueling their cars

Large text on self-service checkouts

You can now enlarge the text at our self-service checkouts using a touch button on the bottom right of the screen. This is the first step in making our checkouts more accessible.

Facilities for the hard of hearing

Look for signs with the ‘hearing loop ear’ symbol. This is where induction loops are available. Assistance dogs are welcome in our stores.
