Asda Launches Chatty Cafes & £1 Winter Warmer to Tackle Loneliness for Over 60s
- Asda transforms in-store cafés into “Chatty Cafés” to create a welcoming space for senior citizens to socialise.
- Over 60s can enjoy soup, a roll, and unlimited tea or coffee at all Asda cafés.
- Asda’s “Don’t Be Gnome Alone” campaign highlights that one in 10 seniors may spend the holidays without company.
To help combat loneliness over the festive season, Asda is revamping its in-store cafés into “Chatty Cafés” aimed at fostering a warm environment for those over 60. The initiative, which launched in Basildon with actor Larry Lamb, offers a £1 Winter Warmer deal across all Asda cafés until the end of 2024, including three soup options, crusty rolls, and unlimited tea or coffee.
Asda’s Christmas Community Report revealed the pressing need for connection, as nearly 10% of seniors aren’t certain they’ll speak with anyone over the holidays. The supermarket hopes to encourage community interaction and provide a comforting space during the colder months.
“Asda’s going all out to bring people in this Christmas and make them feel seen and heard, and spread a little Christmas joy,” Larry Lamb shared, urging everyone to look out for those who might need companionship this season.
