Shoppers are outraged as Sainsbury's sells a Cadbury selection box for £45

Selection boxes are never cheap, but this Cadbury selection box at Sainsbury’s has really taken the (chocolate-covered) biscuit.

Eagle-eyed shoppers spotted a selection box for a whopping £45 and posted it on money-saving Facebook community Latest Deals, Extreme Couponing & Bargains Group.

Shopper Shane Butler posted the photo to the group, writing: "Bargain at Sainsbury’s, only £45”.

His post soon went viral with hundreds of likes and comments, with users pointing out that the box was “daylight robbery”.

One commenter wrote: "It'd be cheaper to buy all the chocolates separately & make the box yourself”, while another pointed out : "Could make it myself for 25 and even have chocolate left over to do a smaller one”.

However, other members of the bargain-hunting community thought the selection box was well worth the steep price, with one writing: "It could be because there is 2 cadburys world tickets inside and think they retail at 12.85 pound each”.

Shane told LatestDeals.co.uk: "At first I thought I had read it wrong, but they had several price tags on it which made me laugh at the extortionate price they are charging!"
