In the News

My gran was over a hundred when she died. But this is impressive to live in a house for 102 years.

Wow, I can’t believe the price now. If that property was near us it would be more than double that. It’s time to move to Somerset.

The flats where I am are shoe boxes. The hubby worked on some where you have to shut one door before you can open another door

Pjran Well I'm in Somerset so biased but I think its a beautiful place to live, beaches are close, highest average temperature compared to most places in the UK except for the south east, lower population density and relatively flat making cycling much easier. Countryside always nearby. I honestly wouldn't want to move elsewhere except perhaps slightly closer to a beach. Street is a village and I was only there on Wednesday doing a bit of shopping. It's about 14 miles from Yeovil. Street is a village but nearby Glastonbury is a town and close to that is Wells which is England's smallest city and all 3 are about the same size.

BonzoBanana I used to drive to Street to take my children to the Clarks outlet. Mind you the petrol was cheap back then and sold by the gallon.

Pjran Are you far from Somerset? I personally don't find Clarks village that impressive. Street used to be the place to go for shoe shops as there were a lot on the high street but most are gone now.

wilsonflorence yes I used to go there just for Clarks but that was when it first opened decades ago.

What a sweet story, its a shame they are having to sell a home that must hold so many memories for all of the family.

MelissaLee1 No sane person would buy an apartment in London for that price.

PhilipMarc I wholly agree. That's why we have some many Russian Oligarchs and Gated communitys .The rest of us live behind the green wall and in the council corner lol.

MelissaLee1 I've sent eBay orders to addresses in the U.K. which apparently were pretty remote and luxurious, and I know because I was curious where I was sending it to.

Those people are the smart ones being away from big cities, but also because they can and made wise financial decisions.

Not long ago, I looked up a small piece of land somewhere in the U.K. and it costs as much as £50k... I just don't see it worth that much.

I am speechless of her age never mind she has lived in the same house for over a hundred years!!

That's a nice bit of inheritance for the kids.

Hopefully, hopefully they don't burn it or use it poorly.
