Amazon Developing Own OS for Amazon Devices with More Adverts!

Other

It seems like they want to increase their advert revenue and prevent side loading apps. So their devices will get a lot more limited in the future with a lot more forced adverts. So if you are thinking about buying a device like a firestick it may be worth considering an alternative. At the moment it seems like some people mainly in the US as far I can tell have found their sideloaded apps have disappeared. Personally I will always try to avoid adverts so use advert blockers where ever possible.

Obviously if you don't mind adverts and don't sideload apps then its not a problem although you may get annoyed with the greater frequency of adverts to come.

Adverts don't come free with regard bandwidth either. You find with advert blockers devices work faster sometimes with better image quality as adverts also have to be downloaded even if you skip them. Also if the device is feeding back to Amazon a lot of data about how you use your device that again slows the device and uses bandwidth and uses more of the memory in the device. Maybe not such an issue for those with fast fibre connections but I'm still on a copper broadband connection with about 7 megabits connection. I am planning to change this in the new year though when I can change suppliers.
