Is This the Beginning of the End for TikTok ?
In the News
If anyone has read some of my posts recently you will know i am not a fan of TikTok
The things they show are ridiculous and some very dangerous
I always thought it was owned by a US company, but it is owned by ByteDance Ltd , a Chinese company
Now it looks as if it might be banned in the USA , the US Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman plans to introduce a bill this week to allow them to ban Chinese technology, which includes TikTok
It is because they think the technology could be a threat and also it can be a propaganda tool
Now it all makes sense, the toaster hack for example that set someones kitchen on fire, they are trying to destroy the West with their dangerous hacks
I've heard thing like this before. Personally I would agree with you. The answer might be to create a western version that can be properly regulated as people love tiktok. I'm not one of them
Let's hope other western countries follow suit. I don't particularly want my kids to use it when their older so I'd be quite pleased if it got banned.
I'm really hoping it gets banned all across the West.
And yes, stupid people will still exist, but them not having access to a platform which shows how unstable they are is a good thing. Remember when people kept it "Behind closed doors" and no one else needed to know about? Let's bring that back.
This could have been avoided completely.
TikTokers are making up disorders:
All the girls in my work love tiktok to me it's just full of attention seekers, posers , it should be banned for all they dangerous hacks people are doing all these poor kids trying stupid things out so sad
TikTok (or the Chinese) had absolutely nothing to do with the toaster incident referred to - it wasn't even a HACK (it was what sounds like an HACK SI DENT) Students hacksidentally set fire to a kitchen which from what I recall was later publicised, as a warning by the fire brigade on TWITTER.
It might help others discuss things properly if posters refrained from posting links to articles that require anyone interested to sign up to read beyond the first few lines. Some of us have better things to do with $14 dollars a month.
I might possibly have been allowed to read more of the article if I'd agreed to disable my ad-blocker, but I don't want to be forced to be subjected to adverts either.
Yes, yes, yes to the US for removing TikTok. I have never viewed this platform but I have read non stop negative stories about people doing illegal things for free publicity.
Tik Tok is basically a begging channel for receiving gifts. I know a few Tik Tokers who have made £20,000 in a week.
They probably do. I think a lot of people go on Tik Tok to promote their O Fs. Good luck to them if they can do it.
I've never ever installed it or used it. I know of it but have never been motivated to use it.
BonzoBanana I think i have used it twice to enter competitions B, otherwise it doesn't interest me
Yeh I know tik tok but I don’t have it. Not a fan of social media at all. It doesn’t add any value to my life
I hate social media of all kinds. Everyone would have a much better/fulfilling life without it and I can't see how it serves any purpose. Sadly, it is easy to be pulled in as I have signed up to Facebook and Instagram with the purpose of entering competitions, if only it was as easy to delete your account!
There are many website comps where it is mandatory to like/comment/follow on social media with the sponsors assuming everyone has it.
Without social media family relationships would be better and time saved could be spent on far more fulfilling pursuits.
