Best British Food
Ask a Question
A lot of the world doesn't seem to rate British Food... what's one things about it that's actually nice?
I think it’s cause we aren’t very good at singing our own praises. A lot of our produce is up there with the best in the world but we love to be self deprecating
Our vegetables and meat are fantastic . I love all the traditional's like sausage and mash, cottage pie, roast dinners, fish and chips. I could go on for ever
sallylester1 our cheese as well is very well regarded in other countries, i think we export a decent amount to france. If most other countries had what we had they would shout about it from the roof tops
evepastare I just had one for dinner last night so I'm going to agree with you!
I love roasts, fish and chips, a huge number of desserts and many other meals. Pastries and pies are really good. Being half Cornish I better mention Cornish Pasties. I actually feel like British food is the best food. Kentucky Fried Chicken is just a variation on the recipe in the British cookbook of 1747 'The Art of Cookery Made Plain and Easy'. I think our cheeses and sausages are great. I do like some of the German sausages but they have more additives, nitrates and are typically much more of a risk for cancer as the are much more heavily processed. I prefer the more lightly processed high quality British sausages.
I do like spicy hot food though so some of my favourite meals are Indian or Chinese curry dishes.
We do make great pies . Both the types like cottage and the likes of pork pies and pies like chicken pies
Sunday dinner, Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes ect.. sausage egg and chips, and you can't beat an all English breakfast
I think good British food is more difficult to make, and that is why many Brits are so much better at making OTHER peoples' foods!
Another vote for Cheese here, I believe British Cheese is world beating.
A lovely cheddar, a nice sour yarg, Crumbly red Leicester, strong and creamy Stilton - I could go on.
Beans on toast, easy and a classic but so good! For any meal too, breakfast, lunch or dinner it works
